What about a points pull at Muncie, and leave the Nationals at IRP??

Well that's a good thought. Who have you been talking to Gene? We know you didn't come up with that on your own. :D

The the things is pulling it great because you get to see the smoke rolling all the time and the motor is working it guts out people love watching that and then the carniege when they brake is excellent IRP this year needed more carniege sorry puller but for us spectater it fun just costly for you.

Then on the other hand Drag racing is getting more popular the average person hasn't see or realized what these diesel are doing on the track once the normal gasser people start realizing that moving an avereage of almost 7,000 lbs down the drag strip at 12 seconds is impressive the event with grow like mad that is why DHRA needs to hold more drag event and get the word out more.

And last you puller guys just need to voice your concerns about the track at IRP and tell them what need to be done to improve the track with you guys input and mabye some help the track could be sweet for you next year and we can see some awesome pulls from all of you.

thats my 2. 50 worth

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!Uh... you obviously have never talked to a sled puller before????

Every sledpuller is an expert at teching, track building, sled operating, overall management of an event, concessions stand, (price, and cooking) the list goes on, but I'm short on time... . and they never, ever, are shy about letting you know their thoughts. :D

well if thats the case what is the problem with the track then if you all have contributed to the building of that pull track just asking I would like to see you guys get what you need to put up a excellent showing for next year I don't know how you guys prefer the track but it seemed to be to soft for you guys.

While I only ever got to go to one at Muncie I will have to say it was the deal. Its easy to see just in the gate there(Muncie) that the local pulling fans prefered it over IRP.

I have no love for IRP and I'll leave it at that... ... ... . Andy

BTW. .

After seeing the videos of what happened at the ''wharehouse" does anyone else think that maybe there will be a repeat performance and the diesel crowd will be treated the same as the Mopar owners were a few years ago and run out of town on a rail?.

Rain, raiN,rAin, and Oh yea, RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Part of pulling is changing track conditions. Winners understand that, and adjust.

That really bothered me. I also was worried Friday night. Last year, the burnouts were slow rollers, and folks took turns. this year, some burnouts were 35 MPH and there was a guy in the opposite lane doing the same thing... . can you say head on collision? I enjoy watcing the burnouts, but with folks acting like that, it isnt hard to see why the cops were quicker to shut them down this year.

Both years at IRP it has been much hotter than TiM, to the best of my memory. Trees and grass keep things cooler. I really got baked in the stands this year on Saturday.

It would not have mattered this year as far as Sunday weather, but I thought if someone had enough tarps to cover the sled track, it there was just a rain shower - verses a deluge ;-) that the event could have been held, just a little later in the day. I drive a long way to come to the event, and went home disappointed. As they say in the old country - got all het up and no coolin off. Nature has its own mind on the weather, I understand.

Sure would be nice if the stands had some kind of awning or cover. Would really increase the enjoyment aspect. I understand Terre Haute has that, but have never been to Schieds Extravanganza. Might have to make that one sometime.

I am excited about the future of Diesel sled pulling. I have always been partial to pulling, but have found that drags are growing on me. I did not go to the drags at TiM.

I can only imagine what a rush it would be to get to ride in one of the trucks during a pull. I would pay money for that experience. There is a marketing idea, Dave. Call it Shotgunning on a Sled - for a ridealong. Richard Petty is making lots of money on the Driving Experience, and promoting the sport at the same time.

I just liked the smaller feel and closeness at Muncie. The track was fine for us, a little spooky with the grass center, but kinda retro!

The Indy track last year was not really all that good from a stick factor. Sorry to say that. We were unable to attend this year, so no recent info.

My vote? Muncie.

Never made it to Indy but just driving by I said..... yuk, big city! Muncie is ok for a town but the town were the pulls are at is right up my alley. You just have to love the area, if you don't then you need your head checked. Laid back, Farming all around, Trees... ... . real people. Muncie 03' was one of the best trips I've ever made, the best was Piers's 03' event... . 5500 miles round trip.

Jim

Well, IRP is not really in Indy, Jim. Its out in the country almost as much as Gaston.

However, I would like to see the results narrowed down some.

Such as, take the voters out who have NOT been to both events.

Then I see alot of pullers voting for Gaston, and I don't blame them, as the tracks have been less than good at Indy, but we hope to change that.

I see Bentz likes Gaston, as well he should, I don't think his car as ran better anywhere else?

And of those who have voted, are you thinking about the entire event overall, or just one segment, you like best?

80 voters hardly seem like a fair poll, when there has been 4000 spectators.

And why doesn't the NHRA have an awning on that grandstand? Do NHRA fans enjoy being cooked all summer?

We raffled off a chance to ride last year with Curt Haisley, and donated the proceeds to charity. There wasn't a whole lot of response, but the winner seemed to enjoy himself immensely.

What are the chances of having it at the Terre Haute Action Track??

My last impression of "Terre Rut" was a costly one for me. A weekend of USAC Non-Wing shows,a driver with a heavy use of his right foot and "Terre Rut's" famed cushion meant 2 bent frames,1 broken motor and a ton of fun,LOL. Would I go back, cetrainly but it would be fun to see them move the Schieds deal to a weekend deal and not a Friday,Saturday show.

Gene. .

Why would you want to do that?. Anyone who has experienced the "IRP" experience can attest to how they treat people. It doesn't matter what form of racing I have been there with its all the same, not worth the drive. IRP has never ever been known as a fan friendly environment. The outside antics, well,as I have said before it will limit or cause a move of the show as it has with other forms of motorsports there... ..... Andy
