Thanks Stakeman,

That's the sort of thing I was looking for.

Did you have all your transmission mods done at the same time?

THerman,

Did not take your statement negatively at all. All I can add is some TC's are designed for excellerating in lockup and some favor unlocking when putting the throttle down. you sound like a man that knows what he is doing and I will add that the more power you put through the transmission the more other components need to be upgraded. I have no preference over anyones parts at this time as they all have something good to offer for there intended purpose, its the marketing thing and people buying parts for something that they really probabley do not need. To build a transmission that a 600HP race truck can not break does not mean it is going to last any longer than a stock transmission in the real world of driveing, unless your putting out 600HP and then it will die at an early age too if driveing in the real world. I know of many stock auto transmisssions that have gone well over 150,000 miles pulling way over GCVW and they were pre 96 models before DC upgraded the transmission.

Have a good day,

Ron

All I had done was the TC and VB. My stock clutch packs were in good shape so I opted not to do those upgrades right now. I do plan to add more HP down the road. At that time I will do the rest of the transmission.

Shift kit

All I did was put a shift kit in my stock trans, you can see my modest upgrade in the sig line. But to date have had no problems with the stock trans and I have done some towing. Mostly farm tractors and in overdrive. I am putting down 247hp and 657tq to the rear wheels, but when the trans does go out I will upgrade it then.

lockup clutch slippage

My experience seems to parallel that of StakeMan. The original configuration (1998 3500 4x4 3. 54 ratio 24v) seemed up to the task (just barely) as far as the transmission is concerned. The only real upgrade I have done is replace the stock injectors with those offered by Mark Chaple of TST and install the manual converter lock up switch. From an engineering point of view, I knew the just barely acceptable transmission performance would not likely be up to the task after the injector swap. So when I got lockup slippage in the 50 to 65 mph range with the stock transmission, I wasn't really surprized. Last year I really took it easy on the transmission so as to not cause more harm. So while I really like the improved shift performance now with the ATS converter and valve body, my primary problem after replacing the injectors was the lockup clutch slippage. You just won't believe the difference in lockup after the ATS converter!
