i dont really see how it is that surprising. now remember that i dont know what this civic had done to it, prob nothing but it was a good feeling to beat one of those little preps at my school that thinks he has a fast car with a big pulling truck, he had me off the line at the first light but i soon closed the gap. but i also know that i have driven a 2001 HO cummins 6 speed and that had power that i have never seen before (great truck), and two 2001 PSD 6 speeds, as well as my buddy has a 97 PSD that neither of them impressed me up until 2100 rpms until their turbo kicked in and then they ran out of rpm range (redline) before i felt like i should shift, ALSO i have driven one of those new duramax diesels and i was not impressed with what i experienced FIRST hand. it wasnt that snappy, felt like i was driving my tried old 350 that was in my 88 k-5 (i never said i cant wait to beat one i said i want to try one) and forget what everyone says about that transmission, allison can keep that braking system that is on at all times thought it was going to break my neck a few times. now if it had an on/off switch, now we're talkin. so if you like the supposed power of a high revving v8 diesel you can have it, i would rather have the low end, a$$ pullin power of the inline 6, cummins power all the way!!

Have to agree with that, from where I sit, those little ricer cars are kind of like dodging orange traffic cones. Everyonce in a while one will rev up somewhere below the left arm rest and make a run for it. Let's just say I've never had to look at their bumper stickers and those absurd chrome plated soup cans on their exhausts more than once ;)

Great Stories Guys!!!

I got one of those new Ford Explorer Pickups with the 2 1/2 foot box a couple of weeks ago. (O. K. it s 4 ft box) He was really hammering the gears and I just sat there and looked at him fall behind. The big old CTD doesn't feel that fast but it sure put him away. The heart was pumping like I was 16 again.

:D Good stories. I like eating up the Dura??? and Phords on the hills. They absolutly hate when you pace up the hill of their rear quarter and then just leave em cold, at will, after you pull up beside em and pause. My wife gets mad and says is this reallllllly necessary!! I just :D :D :D :D

What I really want is one of those mufflers they have that makes a sound like someone breaking wind in a tuna fish can!

:D :D :D :D

Hey Bandit, I'm up the road from you but come down you way often and I know that those little things with their 100hp mufflers get in the way most of the time. Usually have to teach them a lesson. Don't seem to get too much guff from the durapukes or flowerpokes though. :(

thought this needed reviving

Couldn't find any trucks to play with driving 700 miles home from purchasing my Cummins. Did get a CamEro (shrimp) to go for it, and he WAS faster, but he lifted before I did--I almost bumped him, she was spooling up. Oh yeah I was in 6th. (New Cummins Driver).

Anyway I still can't find a diesel truck to play, so I shoot down anything else that will.

I did actually see a Genital Motors pouring out the smoke and passing a Cummins on a hill today. Of course the GM was unladen and the Cummins was pulling a big flatbed--and judging by the total lack of smoke on the Dodge, I don't think he ever got on it.

I'm gonna keep a lookout for that GM.

OH, the fun has just begun--275's and Comp are going in soon!

:D

I was coming home (Kansas City) from Moab Utah pulling my Jeep (Jeep and trailer = 6000lbs) up a slight grade in West CO when I see a new HD Chevy pulling a bass boat. It was about an 18' boat or so. He was in the right lane as I pull up in the left lane I see it has the D-MAX. I just kept right on pulling away untill he gets on it I guess as he pulls up along side of me. So I stepped on it, still in 6th and I just pulled away from him. As we got down the grade and onto some flat road he would go by me as I was running just a little over the speed limit but on the next hill I would catch him and pass him again. This happened three or four times over a number of miles and an hour or so.

I took on an older ford lightening the other day. . I had a hard time with him but got him in the end. The next light he go behind me and would not even try... so I laid down a huge smoke cloud and was gone.

AMEN, major adrenalin rush!Oo.

Idoit me got pulled over one night doing this a couple weeks back. I was at a stop light and an older GM diesel truck came up beside me. Light turns green, he kicks it and the black smoke came across my hood. I caught up with him at the next red light and had my Comp on 5/5. I kicked it and left him, but there was a cop coming up to the light from a side street.

I got pulled over since I was the one in front. Got a warning, but that was the last time I took on anyone. Now I just let them have their fun and pick my battles during the daylight.

just have to watch it when these guys taugnt you. I was setting at stoplight the other day and a guy in a red dodge gas four wheeler was setting there acting out and as we pulled away from the light he romped it so I decided to launch too... ... ... ... ... ..... Unloaded a whole pallet of sacked concrete right in the intersection! truck ran right out from under it. I had hauled that thing around all day. Oh well:rolleyes:

Oh Man, That's Good!

Dseabaugh, thanks for that story. I got a good chuckle. My racer used to my contractor truck after I sold my "94 sheby. I got p o'd at some one at an intersection one day and sent three perferctly good fiberglass ladders spinning into infinity. I realized my error a couple blocks later : )

I have, err. had, a stock 24V, which in stock trim is faster than a 12V (Generally speaking).

My Dad has a D-Max, and it's purty darn fast comparing both of them stock. Pulls quicker too,, at the expense of MPG.

I am suprised ya beat him, okay, okay, I'm not SUPRISED, but I am a little shocked,, hehe,

If you don't have any power upgrades (BOMBs) not just intake and exhaust work,, the D-Max,, un-loaded,, will be hard to beat, ,especially the Allison Auto's.

Just my experiance with the D-Max.

I don't have a problem beating stock D Maxs and PSDs and my truck is almost stock. :D

Seriously, the D Maxs and newer PSDs are pretty quick and I know I would never beat them if I did not modify my Cummins

Racing against brand X is fun, but there's something else that will give you an even bigger :D On the way to Thunder in Muncie, my son & I were at a stoplight on a four-lane, with our 30' 7000lb travel trailer in tow... .

A white Ram 3500, also a 4x4 quad cab like mine, (stock, I assumed, no visible gauges) pullled up beside us, and tried to get the jump on us when the light changed.

He was ahead less than a truck length, and when I hit third & fourth, I went by him like he was standing still. :D

It's scary. When the boost from that PDR-Hx40 kicks in, it always feels like it's going to snap off the hitch ball, or yank the trailer frame out from under all that wood & aluminum siding. The other guy was like this ::--)

We laughed and laughed all the way to Muncie.

I raced my first PSD about 2 weeks ago. It was fun! The guy pulled up and the front of his truck was even with my passenger door. To make things REALLY unfair he was a 1 ton dually true 4 door 4x4. In otherwords a huge truck that I suspect may have had some chip, but not sure. Light turns green and I kinda take off slow, but who comes a rattlin up to my door! I look over and the guy was all smiles and giggling as we both looked at each other and dropped the hammer. Now my truck IS LOUD. So loud that I can't drive around with the passenger window open because I have my exhaust dumping out in front of the rear tire. So needless to say he got to hear how loud the old goat is! Anyways back to the race... ... ... . A HUGE cloud of black smoke and he is way behind me within seconds.

Maybe he was stock, I don't know but it was nice racing a smiley laughing guy who just wanted to have fun.
