Competition Challenged to Pulloff by a Ford PSD Owner

Competition 1/4 mile time

What things should I check before I pull? (I got my coathanger incase I get locked out of my truck. )

I plan on either 3rdL or 1st H, depending on the track. My tires are the factory Michelins, with about 30k on them, so you know how they will bite.

I dont have my wire tapped yet either, so I only got the III's and basically an EZ, and the stock HX. But, I got the clutch. See other stuff in sig.

I just kinda want to get a couple hooks to get used to everything. I understand no two pulls or tracks will be the same.

Any ideas, hints, and "good lucks" are welcome and needed. (Pics soon to follow)

Thanks, Jim

I hope to be there

to watch, take photo's. You don't need luck you got "The Clutch" it will take you far. I am sure you will do very well. (should I bring the gooseneck?) Just kiding. See ya there.

Craig

p. s. GOOD LUCK:D

Hopefully you'll do better than my first hook ever... .

Good luck!

Do like Sleddy does - rev it to the sky and ease her on down the track. You won't be able to make cappuccino while pulling like he does, but it should go smooth.....

Cuba City, WI. June 28 Pull starts at 7pm. They have 2 classes for street... 6000# and under, and 6000# and over.

I dont expect to do well, but just get the feel of things. ;)

Jim, I'll be there barring any unforseen scheduling conflicts.

Matt, 62 miles south west of Madison as the crow flies. Closer to Dubuque.

Nixter

how big of a pull will it be??? maybe if there is enough interest we could get a separate diesel class going.

if big enough, i would come down and pull also.

but it would be a four hour drive for me though.

Hey Jim, I was going to PM you this question but here it is for everyone. Could we get more details on where? I understand Cuba City isn't real big but could you narrow it down a bit please? Maybe Blackcloud could get some time off work and join the festivities. Propuller from northern Illinois is in the area and let's not forget Roadwarrior, cat992opp might be coerced out that way as well. Csevers had a huge crowd when he lost his virginity on the pullin' track at Muncie (nice pull Craig) I think you should get a similar crowd. excessive force is another that might make the ride for the pulls.

OK, I see I'm rambling again. See you Saturday.

Nixter: Cool! I've been out to Madison a few times on business... . I love the area, BTW..... maybe next time I'm out there I'll get lucky and there will be a pull.

Matt

Sorry, I dont know specifically where it is. But like Nix said, Cuba City is quite small. This event is part of there Dairy days or something. So I am sure its probably not in the sticks.

Heres some more info... Weigh ins 6-7pm, pull @ 7pm $20 entry fee, Trophy for 1st only (no other places paid) that is screwed up.

The guy I talked to last night said "I'll tell you right now, if you pull in the heavy class, you'll be pulling against diesels, and some of them have chips. " I almost laughed, but I didnt.

Grizz, There will be a couple of better (BIGGER) pulls than this one. I can send you a schedule of some around here if you like.

Remember, this is my first pull with this truck, so I dont know how its gonna go. Dont expect too much.

Not ever having done it ('cause I'm chicken):D...

I can only tell you what I've been told to do.

Pick 3rd-Low. Get tension on the chain, bring the engine to about 2700 RPM and start to slide "THE clutch". Once you get ~7-10 psi boost let the clutch out more until she "hooks". You'll know when it does. Then give it to her. If you start hopping, back off the fuel and let it settle down. Or try to get a re-start if you haven't gone too far. You won't run outta engine. You will run outta traction. I realize I may not have explained this as well as I shoulda, so if you have questions, you've got my number (or if you want to borrow my propane kit;)). BTW, tap the wire (you know you want to:D).

I'm sorry that I won't be able to be there. I've got an "effing" wedding to go for someone I don't know . Or I'd be there for sure (if he didn't win, I could be there to save the day). Anyone, I will pay for a copy of his pull. Next time, give me some more notice and we'll get you more prepared. Or, if you take responsibilty for the McLeod, you can use my truck. Just bring it back to me via Dave Mitchell with a new pulling twin-disk installed. :D GOOD LUCK DUDE!

Jim,

Watch out! I hear Rob Thomas is going to ship his truck across the lake on a Ferry:D to pull against you.

I remember him saying "I rule the North"

He doesnt want to drive through Indiana to get to your area (afraid of the Scheid truck maybe?)
