The good ol' 12" Etch-A-Sketch locked up on the unselected front camera once again this morning. When it is pitch black out, and this thing is blaring at full brightness, and can't be dismissed, it is a real nuisance. I eased off the road, and rather than restarting, I put it in reverse for a moment, then back to drive, and it "found itself" and went away. Not impressed.

Time to trade it in for a Tradesman! o_O:eek:
I know it, right?! My '05 was a Laramie, then my '15 was a well equipped Tradesman. The only things I really missed with the Tradesman were driving lights, and better seats with leather. I thought long and hard about getting another Tradesman, but the Longhorn seats kept calling me:rolleyes:

While I'm at it, in case folks are thinking, "Man, he must hate that truck. He's always B*&%#ing about it". Naaaah, not really. I started this thread to just lay it on the line how the new CGI trucks are doing. Is there some disappointing or aggravating stuff? Does Ram need to step it up, and address some stuff? For sure! But, overall the truck is still an amazingly capable hoss, and things would have to go tremendously, catastrophically off the rails before I'd consider jumping ship. I have owned the other two. That's why I drive a CTD.

I suppose with the Longhorn the 8.4 is not an option? I have had a couple little glitches with my 8.4, one which require a reset of the unit and like the fact that lack for up fitters switches gives one more hard switches to control things. Knock on wood the 2015 has only been to the dealer for recalls. Off Wednesday for a 1600 mile trip back to the NW Wednesday for the summer, towing our little 8K commuter TT. I would add that we were not looking for NAV as an option, however the truck we brought from John Elway had it, and we now like it.

No more 5er Sno?

I thought I remembered you planting a camper at each end of your loop?

Tom, Did you go into the controls screen, camera, turn off 10 second delay... It will go away as SOON as you put it into Drive.
Also, have you tried turning down the brightness of the dash/screen? I have my 2017 and 2019 set on AUTO and it does a nice job of the correct brightness based upon outside light.
Cheers, Ron

When it works properly it does go away. This behavior usually occurs when I back up, out of the garage for instance, then when I shift to Drive rather than going away it will spontaneously go from the backup camera to the front camera. At this point the screen is unresponsive and will not respond to screen off button or the power off button, or the "X" on the camera screen for that matter. The manual climate control buttons will generally work, but the little popup menus don't come up, so you can't really tell what's going on. This photo is not from today, but is what it looks like.

Tom,

I'm not sure how similar or different the 2019 1500 and 2019 3500 360 surround camera system are. My wife's never displays the forward camera unless I select it. I'm busy with projects, but will try to get in her 1500 and go through the camera menu(s) to see if I spot something.

Cheers, Ron

I think my truck is related to Christine:D

Strange how every 12" has it's own glitches... Mine has settled down and no longer plays 2 sources simultaneously. Other than that, It's been great. One thing that bugs me is when you press the "screen off" button it only makes the screen black, The backlight is still on so...... It's still glowing. Kinda defeats the purpose, It would be nice on those long evening drives if it was truly off.

How much of a PIA is the engine filter to change? I can barely see it. Why do they insist in burring frequent maintenance points like that? On my old 99 I put in an AirDog and located it under the cab, real simple and easy to get to. When the warranty runs out will need to look at relocating this one as well

The fuel filter?

Its not a pain to change. Same spot it’s been in since 2003. Get one of the dogbone wrenches from Geno’s.

The engine filter is pretty simple to change, always looks clean to boot, because the rear filter is doing most of the work keep my Cumminns running.o_O

Ok, when I bought the truck it had 10440 miles on it. The dealer replaced the frame mounted filter but not the engine fuel filter. The also did an oil change and replaced the air filter.
