Ok my tradesman poor mans mobile is a regular drop when your not paying attention tailgate just making sure they didn’t forget parts on mine as well.

I am curious as to whether you have any throttle lag, dead pedal as it is sometimes called in your 2019.
I have not detected any, and having had an '02 Volvo V70(my wife's)that had a serious case of dead pedal, believe me I am tuned in to that. Nothing like trying to merge onto a freeway, and the engine room has gone on break. I only have about 1800 miles, at this point.

Properly tuned with SCR there shouldn't be a Problem.
We had that pedal lag 15 years back with only EGR and CAT, that ones didn't spoil up fast enough.
It's all about Soot.

Dead pedal is something very specific, to me. It's not slow response, it is NO response. It's not hesitation or stumbling or turbo lag. It is when you mash the pedal and absolutely nothing is happening, nothing, as if the linkage, or cable, or in this case the wire is broken. Very un-nerving. Once you experience true dead pedal, you will never confuse it with anything else.

The only way I've been able to produce it is a quick double jab on the skinny peddle. From a stop, peg it and immediately let off and then get back into it heavy. It caught me by surprise the first time, just a matter of training yourself to go if your gonna go with no hesitation. The only concern I have is of my son who just turned 16 on 8-14. He's a conservative driver (at least when dad is riding shotgun) but I've had the talk with him about it.

It would be interesting to see if your truck does it under similar conditions or if they've fixed the issue.

... and the right cable is much shorter than the left, so it takes all the load if you place weight on the gate.

There is a TSB of some sort out for the 2019 that appears to apply to the 2018's as well. Swap the tailgate cables from side to side. Did they do this on yours or put new cables on like you mentioned were ordered? Swapping sides fixed one "slacker" cable my 2018 3500.

SM said they compared the original cables, and they were same length. They replaced both cables, and it is identical, right side taut and left side slack. I was told on another forum that this was common on the 2019 1500s, as well. Common enough that FCA apparently issued a bulletin saying it is "normal". It's clearly a build issue, but not a battle worth fighting. I'll live with it.

Do they both carry the load when you sit on the tailgate? Mine do now after swapping them, however, one is slack until it has a load on the tailgate.

You know, this thread wouldn't be complete without a politically incorrect and funny story regarding tailgate supports. In 1996, my wife and I were at the beach in TX when a full size Chevy Blazer backed in next to us. A couple US sailors with their two chunky wives set up. The young ladies weighed approx. 250 to 300 lbs each and wore cute little bikinis. Both gals were sitting on the tailgate when all of a sudden, both support broke dumping them onto the sand. I guess they just GROSSLY (understatement) exceeded the weight rating.

Anyhoo, that story came to mind talking about tailgates and supports.

Cheers, Ron

Yes, if I sit toward that end the gate gives enough to tension that cable. But not like Wiredawg's example above:eek:

Part of the story I left out I was just taking a gulp of beer when i saw this carnival show. O snorted beer laughing. The goals brushed off all the sand and decided to just sit on the sand.

Meanwhile, my nose burned from the beer and my gut hurt from laughing.

Isn't it funny what you remember?

Cheers with your beers, Ron

Does anyone know the regen strategy on these trucks? A while ago I thought it sounded a bit rattly, and went to the regen screen, and it said active rehen in process. I was pretty sure the gauge screen said zero, but wasn't sure. So I have been driving with the DPF gauge up, and this morning it went into regen when the gauge said zero. Normal behavior???

There’s a DPF gauge? I guess it measures soot load.
It’s a whole strategy and I guess you hit a mark and it wanted to get one off. Were you driving down the road and this happened?
