A new Marine!

There's something very enjoyable about playing a sport that's in a climate controlled environment..... beer/chow is but a few feet away (at most... . ) at any given moment..... and you get to chuck a 16+/- pound ball at a bunch of pins and see how fast you can get it going (the newer bowling lanes have radar guns for ball speed... . )...

Yeah,Bowling Fun,Whoooopppiiieeeee.....

Ok,so at times it can be till ya leave a stone cold 9 pin on a perfect game and shott a 299:mad:  .

OR...

You go out practicing with your son and a teammate of his(son is 18 and his teammate is 16) and put a track on your newest gun in the bag. Fresh out of the box I roll a career best 745(245,260,240) and they, the boys, roll sets of 795 and 820 respectively. The youngest had the 820 with 300 in the center. Needless to say Hammer has left his Hammers in the closet for the season and the kids say anytime, anyplace, any center. . No Respect. . No Respect At All... ... ... . Andy

P. S. -Ok,so it was not my Hammer products, but a Track rocket. This thing flat rocks...

I'm about ready to put my Hammers on the shelf too. A couple guys on my team have the Diesel. Really hooks up.

Speaking of bar maids, I remember at states 2 years ago, one came to get our order and I ordered one of her. She said $100/hr (jokingly i hope). I asked her if she took plastic, then bent over and told me to swipe my card. I couldn't bowl right the rest of the night. :--)

I have had Hammer equipment in the past, then I switched to the Storm line w/ excellent results. I ended last season w/ a 214 average. We start the new season in 2 weeks. Gotta get out and start warming up.

You guys bowling on wood or synthetic? The league I bowl on is all synthetic lanes, not even sure if there are any houses w/ wood anymore.

The bar maids really take some crap from us, it is good they have a sense of humor and are able to give it right back!

I have a storm el-nino. I very seldom get it outta the bag, I throw a big hook to start with so the lanes have to be very wet for me to control it. If not it hooks out of the house. My hammer is a Reaper

I bowl in 2 leagues. One is wood one is synthetic. I average 10 pins better on the wood lanes.

I also have the el~nino, and a thunder, the thunder is awesome, useable in most conditions, however is is getting tracked out. So, the turbo diesel looks like it could be right up my alley... :-laf

re: Ball speed

I bowl on a summer league here. They have the radar guns.

I throw the ball at avg. of 25 mph. Best ever "hard throw" was 30 mph.

When it hits the pocket just right, Everyone stops and looks.

Pins have been known to fly out of the hole before the gate closes.

How about your speed?

I think I have hit right around 30mph... . My cousin could throw at a pretty consistent 35mph..... I usually end up making the ball land about 1/2-way down the lane..... the bowling alley dude never seems to find it amusing. :-laf

I won't count the number of times the ball went astray in a BIG way... . in an attempt to throw a fast ball.

Matt

I would pay to see a 16lb. bowling ball thrown accurately at 35 mph.

or even 30 mph.

I am accurate up to about 27 mph, and no-one else around here can come close.

As a side note:

I sure wouldn't want to get hit by a 16 lb. object moving that fast.

... nobody said that it was accurate. :-laf

I'm not a good bowler at all - I think my best game ever was a 220 or some lousy score like that.

I have got 5 strikes in a row, though... .

Matt

I'm with you, Matt. My best was like a 228.

I finally bought my own ball, and it added over 40 pins to my average. I bought...

FABALL BLACK HAMMER

This joker has knockdown power to spare. It's hard for me to get serious heat on it (16 pounds, fingertips grip, and I'm a wuss), but the heavy ball doesn't need much heat to do its thing.

I've heard about 6 times that Faball was going out of business, so I wanted to get one of their legendary hammers (black or blue) while they were still around.

I have had many 279 games... a few 299 games, and a 300, not during league play so it isn't recognized by the ABC. I threw the 300 while moonlight bowling, won $100. 00!!

Okay - Mark's into bowling... . just a little. :)

A long time ago - when I used to bowl on an almost weekly basis - reactive resin was all the rage.

I just huck the heaviest ball I can find at that little spot between the head pin and the one just behind and to the right of it..... seems to do the trick... sometimes. :D
