The guys from Triple D Performance came to my house this morning to install my new HRVP 44 from Industrial Injection. What a team! They had the old one out & the new one in at under 45 minuets. The new pump idles & sounds like the old one but the increased throttle response is noticeable. :D It's easier to make black smoke. On my test run, I easily pulled past 3500 rpm where I backed out of it for high speed & lack of road. :-laf

Thanks again to Triple D Performance & Industrial Injection.

I like mine too, all that extra black bicycle spray :-laf :-laf :-laf sure is fun and with my M4's & Smarty on 9 I can change their ethnic parameters :-laf .

For some reason they only wave with one finger

Let me know if your HRVP44 bucks at 1100 to 1200 RPM when you are just idleing along with just a frog hair of throttle input.

Isn't there supposed to be a new smarty download available to smoothen out the HRV44? Thought i just read something about it, but could be wrong.

Just wondering if guys have tried it yet. .

No bucking above say 1,000 rpm. It idles like my old pump & seems about the same on the low end but the throttle response is sharper & it seems to fuel out farther, at least to 3500.

Does yours lope when coasting up to a stop light then settle down to a smooth idle?

Just trying to figure out if I have a problem that shouldn't be there.

So I am going to assume that this pump has some special electronics that removes the 2700 RPM defueling limitation?

Do you know how it gets more HP? Advancing the timing or adding more fuel?

Thanks;

Jim

No lope at all with mine. I was told that some lope & some don't. The reasons for that are unclear. I'm also not clear on what Industrial Injection does to increase fuel delivery. I do know they use a lot of new parts, including a new circuit board & I think they may use parts from both ETC & ETH pumps to make the hot rod version. Clearly it fuels past 2700 rpm. I stopped at 3500 but it may well have gone farther.

Please tell me how they changed it out in 45 minutes again?

One guy sat on the brush guard & turned the wrenches while another handed him tools. The third fellow mostly kibitzed & sat in the drivers seat to turn the engine over while air was bleed out. I checked my watch. It was done in 45 minuets & I was out for a test spin.

I believe the smarty is partially responsible for the higher rpm limit vs. just the hrvp.

take out the smarty and see where you get, That would be the better test

I have no doubt you are correct, Bob. Isn't the stock fueling program governed to around 2700 rpm? With Smarty & the stock IP on this truck it would rev out to near 3500 rpm but it was running out of steam. The HRVP 44 with Smarty revs out to 3500 & acts like it would keep going but that's all I'll do on public roads. If I can bring myself to, I'll load the stock program back in & see what happens.

not a problem Richard I just wanted to make sure that there was no confusion with the heading of the thread and the high rpm comment mentioned.

thanks

I've been running my new HRVP for a week now. For all practical purposes it acts just like the normal version only with a substantial increase in injector size. Throttle response is improved greatly. The motor easily reves to 3500 rpm. Obviously there is no 2700 rpm limit like I've heard about the "FedX" pumps. Smarty takes care of any limits in the ECM.

How does the HRVP 44 compare pricewise to the stock pump? It looks like I might need a new pump.

Gentlemen, could you please educate me regarding the HRVP44 and the Smarty?

I am about to buy a new VP44 (code 216 and all... ) and was considering the Blue Chip, but now that I am reading your thread I see the 2700 RPM limit on the FedEx programmed (Blue Chip) VP's. What's the difference and how much does it cost?

Which way to go? Any advise is deeply appreciated when I will be laying dow about 2 grand to make the truck more reliable.

OK, I read about the SMARTY, but how about the difference between the Blue Chip and HRVP? Is the high performance pump worth the extra $ and is its reliability just as good as a plain VP?
