How to sell an RV?

wheel torque

Well Harvey we finally agree.
FWIW NY specifically defines what weights are to be used. the GVWR on the sticker is specifically mentioned. I found the section when researching this thread. I would repost it but forgot where it was. As Stated I do not know too much about DOT rules other than it takes 4 attachment points to a piece of equipment and a 5th point to the equipments attachments. IE a bulldozer needs a chain at each corner and one to the blade. And that you can only drive a limited amount of hours I don't even know if that is a State or Fed thing but I do know regardless of where you are from that is how it must be held down to be a "secured load" another part of that is that each chain / strap must be stamped with its strength, what the requirement is for that I don't know,5 home depot straps would not be sufficient. Obviously non of that applies to an RV. I was simply pointing out, as apparently you agree, that if KLauber was in NY I would be able to find a violation to down(impound) his vehicle.

Yep, we are completely in agreement regarding KLauber's rig. He may get away with that rig in rural SC for a while but he would not make it through one day of travel crossing state lines without finding himself signing a stack of tickets and trying to get a driver with a dually to come tow his trailer back home.

Gary,

You could have your rear springs rearched and add a set of Timbrens. I had to have the springs on my '06 rearched not long before I sold it and retired from transporting.

To the Rescue!

Harvey what about this one. . its a 2003 long bed with fairly low miles. I'm having it checked out in the morning.

Harv, Greenville SC population is 60k. Now if Kenny from nyerk (one syllable, according to that kinky haired Dave Whatshisface on late nite TV) city wants to call Greenville rural, I reckon I'd have to overlook it. But someone who lives 40 miles from east Podunk Junction to do it is a hoot!!! BIG LOL!!!! Mark

Write me a ticket.

I'll photograph the trailer rig from bow to stern tomorrow for you and Harvey to pore over and spot the violations. The only potential ticket I can think of is maybe the strap arrangement on the poly tank. Cya'll tomorrow!

Mark,

I'm familiar with Greenville, About a hundred years ago in the early 1960s as a young sailor I was stationed in Charleston. I dated a girl who lived in Belton for a year or two and made the trip from Charleston to Belton most weekends. I've been in almost all those small towns in that area.

You'll have to admit that other than Greenville and maybe Anderson the area of north-western SC is mostly pretty rural. I've been back through the area many times in recent years including a year and a half ago. I always enjoyed those friendly small towns and the nice scenery at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.

It looks good judging from the photo. Its hard to offer much more than that but it appears to be a one owner unmolested truck probably adult-owned and I would guess it was used fairly lightly.

The only thing you have to worry about might be the maintenance habits and choices of a non-TDR uninformed owner who had the oil and oil filter changed once a year using a corner quick lube 10-30 weight oil and a dime store filter.

Would those be NY, SC, TX or DOT violations :-{}

People

Kenny and Harvey have been going at it since Moby Dick was a minnow, they ran me off by calling me a liberal socialist demagogue, but their heart is in the right place it's their brains I question.

Come back!

Its still very rural other than Greenville, Anderson, Spartanburg. . stop in any time, there is always room in our driveway for TDR members!

It drives nice and sounds good, the interior is clean and appears to be non-smoker owners. It was registered in Orlando FL since crossing the border from the factory. The guys at Big O Dodge are checking it out right now.

Thanks!

Is that DOT approved duct tape on the door of the electric junction/control box?? And DOT approved cardboard padding on the 55 gallon drum?? :-laf:-laf

Definitely off spec!! BTW thats an 85-Gal drum loaded with 300 lbs of granular activated carbon for emissions control!

Ken,

Is that an early '03 with the 305 HP clean engine and no catholic converter? If so, that is one sweet set-up. Snap an Edge EZ on that thing and fuel mileage and power are great. Would run circles around my 325 and get better fuel mileage while doing it!!

If it is an automatic, what rear end ratio does it have? Remember the final ratio in the auto is much higher than the bolt action trannie.
