Ok let the girl set outside last night (about 18*) Had heavy frost jumped in fired it up turn on the WS wipers and they never even tried to move

Shut them off got out to see if they were froze to the WS and nope they were fine I Pulled each one away from the WS just to make sure ...

Got back in turned them on Full Blast and they never even tried to move

No whineing or anything like the motor was even trying to move them :-{}

I left them on and got out and pulled the drivers side up the WS toward me then they took off and it threw Light ICE/Frost all over me

They worked fine after that I turned them off and when I turned them back on they worked fine ... Now whats going on here ...

is my WS whiper Motor junk or what. .

It has done this before ... only when its cold if I park it in the garage they will work fine but at work or when I leave it outside here at home they dont want to do there job.

Wiper motor

I replaced my motor about a year ago. It was a shame that the warranty was past. The dealer tryed to charge me a rediculous price to replace the assembly. I found the assembly on www.dodgeparts.com for around $100. 00. When I told them that I found the part for $100. 00 the service manager lowered his repair price. I did the job myself, but still had to pay the dealer a $85. 00 diagnostic charge. Don't know what they had to diagnose.

Dieselminded; years ago I had a GM pickup and the windsield wipers became intemitten. After much frustration and teethnashing, it turned out the motor had loosened up just slightly, and since it need a good ground thru the mount it only worked when it happened to ground out. I not sure if our

Dodges are like that but might be worth checking the grounding anyway. good luck

I will look into Replacing / tightening up my WS whiper motor ... ... ... ... Other problems now the dreaded boogy man has retuned ..... my door locks keep locking and unlocking by there selves again ... I cant catch a break ..... lately it seems that every thing on the truck had a warentee that ran out @ 40,000 miles

Rear door latch

WS Whipers

Doorlocks

All Things that just lately decided to be JUNK

Im Depresed

AS I look at the big dent in my hood where I hit my truck with a golf ball I begain to realized maybe the MODS have to stop till I can bring the rest of the truck up to par

dm,

one idea not given yet although the outcome is the same.

the 2 brushes in the wiper motor will wear out after time and they can also get stuck in the holders and not make contact with the commutator.

if you have the problem again, try tapping gently on the motor (i know what you would really like to do) while the power is on. if they start moving, this could be the problem.

if the motor is sealed, it will probably have to be replaced. if it is bolted together and you are handy with electrical, you could loosen the 2 screws about 1/16", tap back the end plate, and squirt in some penetrant.

on the door lock problem, have you tried disconnecting the control switches (left and right door) one at a time and see if it goes away. i know this could be annoying because of the intermittent nature of the problem.

also, have you tried replacing the door lock relays. (i assume there is one for lock and another for unlock. ) these should be available at any auto parts store.

in case i am way off base on this, it wouldn't be the first time.

There is power to the wiper motor at all times when the ignition is on. There is a set of contacts inside the wiper motor that determine where the wipers stop when the switch is turned off, (contacts open in park position) The on/off switch bypasses these contacts when in the on position and the wipers run. It could be the switch or wiring to the switch or as stated above, problems in the motor. bg

After it's all fixed, get some Rain-X from Wal Mart and treat your windshield. The wipers and motor will last a LOT longer because you'll use them a LOT less. I just changed my wipers last week, so I'm on my 3rd set of wiper blades now - after 10 yrs. :D

Thanks Guys ,

Ill look into the possiblilities .

As for the locks I used the master key in the lock and locked and unlocked manually a few times and it seem to be ok for the day.

I scared of the rain-x Ive heard repeated times that windshield repairs are greatly effected .

Glad your having good luck with it.

I have to get the wind shield wipers working everytime because you never know when it will start ranning cats and dogs on the freeway .

On initial cold startup the grid heaters pull a lot of power, enough to slow the crap outa my wipers. I dont use them anymore when the heaters are on. This causes a low voltage, high amperage draw on the motor, and will kill them off real quick. Possible yours are partially burnt, and require full voltage to even operate.

Rain-x is one of the best things Ive found, and may save yer butt if the wipers quit on you. If you are on the freeway, anything over 45mph will skim the rain off yer windshield w/ rain-x. . Sitting in traffic, rain just beads up off the windshield and doesnt smear and stick like an uncoated windshield.

good luck

3 sets of blades in 10 yrs. ? I'm lucky to make it threw a winter w/o replacing a set.

I had a problem w/ the door locks on my truck and I switched the passenger side to the driver side and it went away for awhile and then I replaced them both.

Well every time I was getting ready to order the motor they would start working again ...

When leaving work tonight Like a Idiot I desided to hit the pissers and the WSW wouldnt move its very cold out but I didnt panic I left them on got out and pulled up on the WSW and nothing ... .....

By the time I got back in the truck it had froze I scraped off what I could and drove 25 miles home with my head tilted

Not sure if Ill chance taking the CTD to work tomarow my luck it will be sunny 95* when I leave and when Im half way to work all hell will break loose.

Went to truck to get VIN to ensure order is right and just for poops and giggles I hit the WSW and they took right off ... . &%@#$@*(#

I feal Like Im Blowing "" Total - $92. 40 ""
