Working under dash on my X-Monitor the other day, installing a new pyro wire.

When done, pyro meter worked good, but now have a mysterious ticking sound under the dash near my feet. Only sounds off on acceleration, and fades completely away upon letting off gas. Thought I had broken something pushing wires and cables around to tie up the pyro wires.

There is a stiff cable running from the fire wall to just below the steering wheel, left side, that I tied off my x-monitor wiring to. Thought it was the speedo cable, which when moved around seemed to lessen the faint ticking sound. But, I think my speedo is electronic.

Also, disconnected all wires and boost tubing from X-monitor control module, but still has the noise.

Sure could use help with some things to check as a possible cause for this rapid and variable ticking sound, associated with speed of engine, under load.

Any and all advice and experiences welcome.

Thanks,

Joe

I could be wrong but I think that stiff cable you speak of is your air bag cable. I try not to tie anything to it. I know that was off subject but thought I'd advise.

There's no speedometer cable in these trucks.

There's no such thing as an airbag cable. What would it be for?

I would've figured it was the parking brake cable or the transmission shift cable.
