Has anyone had experience with Napa shocks IE gas grande, sensi ride, or the reflex shock? I am looking for something available through a local parts house. My existing shocks have 170,000 miles on them and may need to be changed, they don't leak. How do you tell when shocks are bad and what wears out?

If your factory shocks have 170k, take my word, they need to be replaced. Look for threads on either Bilsteins or Rancho shocks. They are pretty much the main choice with this crowd.

my experience with the private label auto parts store shocks have never been great, they are probably no better than OEM shocks if not worse, QRTRHRS is right go with the ranchos or another good quality shock like that, the price wont be much different and the quality will be well worth any inconvenience it takes to find them, but most auto parts houses can order any shock you wish.

I went with the Napa reflex shocks and have regretted it. Less than a year on them and they feel like crap. I am going bilstien or rancho's this summer.
