Watching last nights Gatorade Duel 2 I found myself hoping Jeff G. would win ( I am not a Jeff G. fan at all!!!!!! however I would rather have him win than a Toyota car)

I felt the same way... .

However I realize in the long run it is going to be hard to beat yotas cubic money$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I wonder how much they paid Gibbs... . if they paid Jarrett 20 million last year just so they would have the champions prov. what Gibbs charged must be huge... ... ...

I'm pretty well not interested in nascar anymore. They've turned me off with dropping winston, and now busch, and this crap of having rice junk? WTF

Its like eating apple pie with chop sticks.

this is obviously not gonna be a popular post, BUT... .

the toyota camry as in "stock car" is assembled in the united states.

the ford and chevy products are assembled in mexico and canada. not sure about dodge.

i have ALWAYS been an american car guy and will continue to be. I currently own a Ford, 3 Dodges, 2 GMs. the newest GM is a pontiac vibe, assembled at the NOVI plant in California with a toyota drive train.

for the sake of competition in NASCAR, it really doesn't matter to me what the brand is anymore.

these cars are so identical and so NOT "stock" anymore, the actual brand is much more insignificant.

nascar is all about the drivers and the teams and how they prepare their cars. if they put any more restrictions on car preparation, this will end up like the IROC champion series or other racing series like the Barber/Saab open wheel class.

enjoy Nascar for the competition and support your favorite driver. on any given day, any manufacturer could win. if one brand dominates, they change the rules to give the others an advantage.

What bugs me is that Toyota doesn't have a V8 car, or rear wheel drive car, and never did.

I lost interest in Nascar after Dale died, now drag racing's my thing :-laf

umm... neither the Fusion or the Impala is a V8 rear drive car

I say bring on anyone that wants to come in... you can't say you're the best if you exclude people from competition, and that includes manufacturers.

some people just cant accept change... I feel sorry for those folks. kinda reminds me of the guy you see at WalMart wearing polyester pants and Dingo boots... :{

oh really? ever heard of a crown, soarer, supra gt500, sc430 gt500, ls400. ls430, ls460, gs400, gs430, gs450, sc400, sc430? all cars that are rwd, quad cam, 32 valve v8's.

I guess that is one way to look at it. I might have to try that tomorrow. Oo.

I usually post on the politics forum, so I'm used to getting flamed.

I, at one time, was a "can't miss a race" NASCAR fan. Sterling Marlin was the man.

When it was announced that 'yota wanted to play, my heart yelled "NOOOO!", but my head whispered "why not?".

Am I still a "can't miss a race" fan? No. Brian France and his lame brained, money grubbing schemes have seen to that.

His mismanagement has led to a situation where only two megateams, Hendrick and Roush, have any realistic chance of winning the championship.

I say that anyone who can put a hurting on Roush and his Furds or Hendrick and his Chebbies is someone I'm pulling for.

Tony Stewart and his Gibbs teammates have the talent, and their tools happen to be Toyotas now.

Go 'yota.

Go Dodge. Oo.

Toy-OH-Ta... .

I can not wait now until the rest come along and join them.

I mean why not...

Honda,Acura,Nissan,Lexus,Audi,VW,BMW and Mercedes-Benz wouldn't that just be a hoot... .

I could care less that they are made in the States, its a shame what NASCAR has become. Instead of them being a racer oriented organization they have succumbed to big business and lost their roots.

How can an organization tell the racer how to set up the car completely and then tell them to drive. NASCAR has become nothing more than a glorified IROC race and has lost my interest completely. Spec bodies, spec chassis and soon spec motors,so why not throw them all in a hat and let the drivers pick what color car they get to race this week... ... .

Ooopps Crap...

Thats what they did in IROC and we all know what happened to them... ... . GONE... ..... Andy

Now this isn't meant to be personal, but this statement shows the ignorance in the 'fans'... there are still vast areas of adjustability in the new cars, both in the body and the suspension... they are FAR from IROC. The new cars have greatly lessened the impact of an engineer on the performance of the cars, and replaced it with MUCH more driver talent needed to make a car run up front.

What AREA of the body is adjustable?

When the mega teams pushed out the privateers, NASCAR lost its heart and soul.

Junior Johnson, Dave Marcis, JD McDuffie and the like built the sport and NASCAR turned its back on them in the name of revenue.

Now it is coming back to bite them. Part empty stands and lower revenue are becoming common.

NASCAR will reap what it sowed.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Ignorance is the condition of being uninformed or uneducated, lacking knowledge or information.

Hmmm...

I am not sure if you are trying to be nice or saying I do not know what I am talking about. Let me make this as clear as I can without loosing you.

There is some ability to adjust the suspension but not much,as NASCAR will not allow it. They,NASCAR,give the teams a set of spring packages(usually a couple sets) and a set of shocks. When the race is done NASCAR collects them to ensure they have not been tampered with and no modifications were made. Their engineers decide on what package works the best with the tires Goodyear gives them for the race.

The chassis is built to uniform rules and they all have the same attachment points. It was done to limit costs and eliminate special needs cars, such as the famed concrete cars which were double frame railed. All bodies are the same and have to fit 1 template with no room for errors. The only difference in the bodies from now on are the decals which determine what type or brand of car it really is.

Heck NASCAR even has a rule on how you can meet the proper cubic inch requirements. When Ma Mopar first returned to the fray they met the cubic inch rule by utilizing a big bore and short stroke which allowed for more low end torque and power off the turns. The other brands went crying to NASCAR and Dodge had to change their blocks and motors. Those motors eventually ended up in most of the NHRA now defunct Pro-Stock truck class. So soon they will use a spec engine to "limit cost" and the need for special parts.

So lets recap... .

NASCAR has their engineers picking out shocks and springs before each race.

NASCAR has the teams using a standard car chassis.

NASCAR has the teams using a "one body fits all" outer skin.

NASCAR will use a spec engine within the next two years.

WHAT part of that does not add up to nothing more than a glorified IROC race?. BTW,I do know more than you give me credit for there BigEasy. I have many friends down south doing alot of Ma Mopars engines and cylinder head work... ... ..... Andy

What I want to know is, if these are supposed to be "stock" cars, why are they just now adopting the "cutting-edge new technology" of unleaded fuel!?

I assume that means soon we'll be seeing unleaded fuel used in our grocery getters! Oh, wait...
