Latest and greatest.
Sorry I've been so slow to get more information out to you guys. I drove out to CT for a wedding this last week and had very limited internet access. Here's the scoop to date.
I went down and tested the Dyno. It worked pretty well. There were some issues with calibration and how we were running the tests. I will be leaving early Saturday morning to do a couple of test runs to fine tune the technique on the dyno. In all, it should go pretty well. Each run will come with a souvenier printout. The start to finish for each run should be no more than 20 minutes (loading, unloading, and the run). But we'll see.
I've got the tires coming. Hopefully they will be up to the challenge as my stockers were not up to the task. I've also got some eight-bolt rims for them. Still working on rounding out that detail.
The address for the campground is 3825 Harding Road (Hwy 18) in Clermont, IA. Here's a little map for you guys to use.

Here's a bigger map to give you an idea of some of the routes to take to get there.

Here's another, bigger, map.

I will be there Friday night. Those of you with CB's can use channel 21 (no reason, I just picked that one). I'll have mine on, and hopefully, so will others. That way you can catch somebody should you get lost.
The directions to GB Transmissions are kinda sketchy (Ray, jump in here). But the best way to get there from the campground (that I know) is to take US-52 (north) to IA 24 (west?). Take IA 24 to Co Rd W14 and hang a left. Follow that until you get to St. Lucas. You won't be able to miss Dave's shop. It's pretty easy to find.
If you get lost, my cell phone probably won't work, but it's (608)304-0399. GB Transmission's number is (563)778-2719. If someone else wants to volunteer their cell phone number for use, be my guest.
For the event, I will need some volunteers. I will need someone to help Fireman Dave at the registration table. These people are going to be in charge of the monies for the event. They will also be helping with the contest registration, tallying results, and drawing entries. These guys will be the ones to help me make sure things are running smoothly. The show and shine will commence at noon and all contests will be over by 5:00 (unless otherwise needed).
Second, I will need two volunteers to help me with the dyno. This will mostly be to guide vehicles on and off, strap them down, load weights, and run the testing. I'm feeling pretty crappy right now from my surgery and could use the help. Along these lines, people will be needing help switching tires. I figure that two more volunteers for this would be great. But I don't think that would be too much of a problem finding people to help change tires. We will try to run the trucks such that there are trucks on the rollers that don't need the tires running, while the ones that do are getting the change.
Third, we will need someone (2) to help with the food. I will have the sodas and water there, but we will need someone to get lunch. We will decide what to get for lunch that day. Democracy in action? These people that are in charge of food, will also be in charge of going back a little early and helping to get the pot-luck set up. Really, it should be just setting up tables and getting everything ready to go for dinner. Shouldn't be too tough.
Saturday night, after dinner, we will have the award ceremony for the contest winners, auctions for some prizes and drawings for the door prizes. Hopefully we will be done by 9:00 and we can start telling stories. That's my goal.
In the event of Rain (because Dave's involved), an awning would be nice to have, if someone wants to volunteer it. I don't have one though. If it's not too much trouble, perhaps someone would volunteer a camper with an awning to facilitate this. But that's completely up to the owner. Right now, the forecast is for cloudy and cool. Hopefully that will hold.
Sunday, we will still be running the dyno. To be fair, since the contests will be done, the price will be $20 to run. Sound good?
Okay, that should be it for now. If anything else comes up, I'll let you know. If you guys have questions, post them. Hope to see you guys there.
