I had planned on changing out the transfer case oil at 20k instead of 30K like the book says. Just for poops and giggles, I looked in the owners "user guide" just to make certain there were still using ATF4........"Mopar BW44-44 oil"....So I call my local Larry Miller Surprise,Az parts guy and he says, " Let me check...Oh yeah..It calls for special fluid and its $32.00 a quart so about $64 and change..Got some in stock.":eek::eek::eek:

About that time, my wallet jumped outta my pants and started running down the street on its own.....:--) After a short foot pursuit, I caught it and called NAPA which has no listing for the oil type....
Now my wallet is shaking with fear thinking I may have to pay more for "Transfer case oil then I would for Monte Alban Mezcal Tequila with a worm".......WTH...

Please tell me there is a alternative to $32 a quart oil for the transfer case........

Larry Miller is the next-to-last place in Maricopa County that I would go looking for lube oil of any kind for my truck. (Earnhardt's is the last.) I'd try Bill Luke on Camelback and I-17 if I had to have it right now. It would be worth the drive. Luke's been in business since 1927 and their counter people are not idiots.

these sort of subjects remind me of Harley Davidson telling the end user they must only use motor oil with the genuine HD 360 rating but no reliable oil manufacturer having assess to what accounts for the HD 360 rating designation

Checked my transfer case fluid level recently, it was a little low so I ordered a quart of 68089195AA. Topped the T/C off this afternoon, after which I noticed the bottle says pre-2016 44-44. So... anyone know the correct part number for 2016 and up?

I can say with 99.9% certainty you are just fine. The BW44-44 transfer case is used in the RAM 1500 trucks.
The 68089195AA fluid is what is also specified for the BW44-45, BW44-46, and BW44-47 transfer cases.

Got two quarts sitting on the shelf now for The Radio Flyer....

You're correct sir. I was focused on the BW44-44 part since that's what the diesel supplement calls out, didn't think about the fact that the truck has a 44-47 T/C.

Daimler did that with the lube for the DT-12 autoshift transmission.

Had to buy it through Daimler even though it was an Exxon/Mobil product...Now other sources have popped up after two years or so...
