Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need a 24 valve Head

Just heard back from the machine shop and my head is scrap metal. She had 30 cracks in her. Unrepairable. I found another head but it is cracked also, but it may be able to repair it. I would like to find one that is in better shape. This is on my 00' 24 valve Cummings.

I just had the same problem. Mine's not totally junk, but I can't see using it with the cracks. It's at Advanced Diesel Technology. I know Doug is working on getting a few heads, but I also know some of them are already spoken for. You could give him a call and see. I know that they're really hard to come by right now, we've been looking for 2 weeks. you can get a head from piers with o rings for about 1500 bucks

Be really careful ,I dont take Any heads to napa any more to get them checked , They put the head in an oven and burn all the crap off of em. I took 3 different Mercruser heads to the napa store and all 3 of them were cracked they said and they showed me where and they were right, the problem, they cracked them in the oven they heat them up real hot and when done set them out to cool like a pie and they crack the valve seats, and between.

I know this because i checked out the last head really good and when i got it back it had 3 big cracks in the seats that werent there before. Just a heads up. dirk

Thanks for the reply guys but the salvage yard that i bought the motor from replaced the head for me. It is a cummins reman. I am getting it o-ringed Friday. I will post the pics of the head install, Super "B" install, LuK clutch, and Dyno numbers on my 98' quad 1-ton.
