PowerWagon, we are tentatively planning for 4:30 at a pizza place in Pendleton--would that approximate time work for you? We will probably hang around for awhile if you can't make it at 4:30. Rob, what was the name of that place?

Vaughn

OK, here is the guy for the "hit"! And, we have a photo of the dyno run, that proves his claims on HP, and then some!!! Notice that Dave got 592. 9HP, and 1290ft lbs TQ!

For any that are interested... I don't remember the pizza place name, but 4:30pm on wednesday works for me. The pizza place is located on the exit that would take you south towards john day or burns oregon. After you take the exit, turn south and head up the hill. It is up a few blocks on the lefthand side, and I think it is just before a Kmart store.
Weber1048... would this work for you?

Well, any other Oregonites want to meet us there, just show up. Ford guys are welcome to show up, too, if you are reading this!

Evan... please explain yourself a bit.

What is your definition of real HP?

12 valve: if you add more fuel thru the use of a camplate, is that real? Or if you turn up the pump, etc?

24 valve: If I use an electronic device to gain more fueling, since my pump is run by electronics, is that real?

I have seen you post this several times... where are you coming from on this? Is it because you don't have a box of some type? (Other than the VA box you have under your hood, STILL!) You hadn't returned it as of last week. (reminds me of my trailer)

Is the VA "real HP", but a Blue Box isn't?

One other thing, I see you are dynoed at 350+HP... Bill is dynoed at 349HP... Maybe you had better scrap your ideas for the exhaust changes and the HX40 turbo... you will lose 1+HP!!

Real or not, my Blue Box adds HP, and allows me to go up the hills at any chosen speed.

So come on Evan, what is YOUR definition of real HP? Don't forget to include the VA in your response.

Nuff said.

Gotta love this rivalry! #ad
And please note that Coca-Cola&reg can is also printed in French.

Ok Sparkles...

First of all, the VA has not been on my truck for weeks. Who told you it was???

REAL HP in a 24V means full time HP, not power that is "added" by a lil box. To get REAL HP, I want to hear about injectors, turbos, and air induction... NOT some little box that screws with the electronics in the pump, literrally sucking the life out of it. Some may last longer than others, but in the long run, they don't do the pump any good.

REAL HP in a 12V is pretty much anything. Since the engine is fully mechanical, the power is there all the time. Hence the term REAL HP. You don't flick a switch, and dump fuel in like with the cheater boxes. Plus with the 12V, you can adjust the timing with a few tools, and is really easy to do. You get to have a say in the amount of cubic millimeters of fuel are injected. That is the "fixed" portion of the VP44. That part is electronically controlled. It will vary depending which model the engine is, and it is only changed in the ECM/FPCM.

Adding a VA to the engine is not "as much" of a cheater box as the other fueling boxes are. Why do I say this? Well, it is because the power the VA adds is there all the time. You do not turn on a switch to activate it. However, I am not going to add one of these to my truck... I have other plans...

Now a question for you... Where are you coming up with the FACTS of how I will lose 1 HP? That just doesn't make sense. Not in any case has the HX40 been proven to be detrimental to power output. Same thing with exhaust. Perhaps my truck has just been strong from the beginning... After all, it dynoed at 234/479 stock. That is 7 HP MORE than an identical truck with 275 RV injectors installed.

You said:

"you will lose 1+HP!!"

So by your rationale, does that mean to gain more power, you are going to take your 14cm² housing off, install stock exhaust, install stock hood, and remove hydrolysis unit? You have made all of those mods to increase your power, not take it away. Put all that stock stuff back on and you should gain 100 horses... #ad
What you said makes no sense at all.

One other thing to remember, is I have a PSA on my truck, and Bill doesn't. Maybe that's where I am picking up more power... #ad

Now do you see where I am coming up with the term "REAL HP?"

OK, let me give everyone some more facts to chew on. My truck dynoed at 222 rear wheel HP in stock form with the exception of larger tires (BFG 295 all terrain). If I'm not mistaken, Evan's truck dynoed at 237 rear wheel HP in stock form with the exception of the air filter. I think he had a PSA but I'm not sure. My truck is a LWB 4x4 and Evan's is a SWB 2 wheel drive. I don't know this to be a fact, but my seat of the pant's meter indicates that the SWB trucks run just a little stronger than the LWB trucks. That determination is made just from driving experience and nothing else. I assume that there may be just a little power loss with the longer drive line. My truck now has some upgrades that are indicated on the link in my signature. The truck was dynoed at BD Dyno Days resulting in 349 rear wheel HP. Evan and I were there as my truck was dynoed and he will confirm that I was somewhat unhappy with the reading. I am not convinced that I received an accurate reading because my truck was slipping a little on the dyno. I thought it should have been a little higher. BD was in a hurry because they were behind and had several trucks waiting for the dyno. Therefore my truck did not get as much testing as some of the others. I will have my truck dynoed again at Diesel Dynamics in the spring. I hope to have what I feel are more accurate numbers then. My truck runs very strong with the current mods and I couldn't be happier with the upgrades. I guess I belong to the REAL HP CLUB on this one.
