Bill. . I could not agree with you more that the dyno may not have given you accurate results. Too bad Evan doesn't realize that! Of course, I posted the above chart, knowing full well that it is a little off.

1. Evan says the psa helped him? Exactly how does the PSA help, while sitting on a dyno... not much air going over the hood while sitting still to create the "low pressure area near the cowling". (in his dreams)

2. Not had the VA for weeks? Oh ya, I talked to the guy who loaned it to him. He has had it for longer than weeks. Is he using it? who knows. Did he use it on the dyno? Who knows, but I do know he had it with him up there.

3. No switches? So, I can hardwire my blue box, no more switches! Then my power will be "more real"? Evan, grow up!

4. More HP than a guy with 275s? Evan, again, grow up! If you actually believe this, set your wrenches down and slap yourself! What were you telling me about setting the dyno properly the other day?

5. My 1+HP comment was in reference to Bill's dyno of 349HP, with the same mods as you, plus the HX40, 4 inch exhaust. You claim 350+HP. Funny, but you first told me that you got 365+HP. Do you want to lower it a bit again?

6. Now do I see where you are coming from? Well, yes, I guess I do... if you don't have a certain modification or can't afford it, IT AIN"T REAL!!! But, I guess it is OK for you to have something under your hood that is not real(VA), cause it is borrowed and not yours.

7. DD3. 5s. . let's get this one out on the table! Show me something that says you have 3. 5 injectors... I have never seen this on any of the DD website pages. If they are so good, why did you get them used? I would have thought that the person would have wanted to keep them "forever"!

A few things to ponder... you have a scanner... why haven't we seen a pic of your graph? Why don't you have whoever dynoed your truck confirm your claim? Why don't you have DD confirm your claim on the 3. 5s?
So, Blankeyboy, I don't see where you are coming from with your statements about "real HP". Nor do I know where you are coming from with service manuals. Or trailers. Or DD boost modules. Or the VA.
NUFF SAID!

WOW Rob, did you think about anyting else while driving to Pendleton today? #ad
And considering you're there already you must have left mighty early this morning or drove all the way with the Blue Box on #ad
he he he

See you in a little while. I have a whole bedload of soda cans to cash in in Oregon on the way #ad

Just spoke to Rob Hanson on the phone... looks like at least 4 of us are going to show up... Bad roads around here, and wouldn't blame people for staying home.

About 2 hours ago, someone driving down Milton hill ran over someone lying in the middle of the road, they stopped, and then someone tried to stop to help them, and a semi rear-ended that vehicle. It closed the road for some time.

It's 28-30 degrees, and yesterday we had rain and snow while it was too warm to stick, but then suddenly the snow stopped and it got cold and all that water/slush froze on the roads (and everything else).

First of all...

Looks like a struck a nerve... I think someone is a bit threatened. Maybe more than a bit... *LOL*

You misquoted me... "had the VA for weeks. " If you read my post again, you will see that it says "not been on for weeks. " I was keeping it until I saw you so you could test it, but you declined.

The VA has not been on my truck for a long time. I tested it for a week or two, and there was NO power difference. Just a little more smoke, and a small stumble (predetonation) when cold at idle.

Rob, the estimate on my truck is about 365 HP, because of slight slippage at near peak HP. I already told you that before, remember?

James' dyno reading was odd. Part of it was right on (torque), but the HP reading was possibly low. You must remember, some guys with 275's feel virtually no power increase, just mileage. All of my dyno runs have been timed for parasitics, and whenI was there after I did injectors, we spent about 40 mins on the dyno so the readings would be accurate. What more do I need to do to convince you?

Even if you hardwire the blue box, it is still not "real HP. " See reasons in my previous post.

I got a few places I could suggest you put the Blue Box...

No comment on the injectors... That is not worth trying to convince you. I am going to scan my dyno graphs and post them, so keep an eye open. Peak HP was 350, and TQ was 740. But due to clutch slippage, those numbers are a little low, as the power was not making it all the way to the wheels. Obviously you want to talk to eyewitnesses of my dyno run, because you are felling threatened by my numbers. No other reason...

Enjoy your box, but don't be surprised if it eats your injection pump.

For someone who is so concerned about power, howcome you NEVER tell anyone what you have done? Why is it such a big secret? Another sign you are feeling threatened...

One more thing...

"*** ***** ** ******* *** ***** ******!!!"

WOW The hairs on the back of my neck are raising up as I read this thread! #ad

Quick someone get out the firehose!

Well, since we're claiming what the dyno print-out says... . mine says 495. 3 hp and 964. 3 tq. It's there in black and white.
Of course,my readings must also be low since I was slipping also #ad

Hey Evan, I can assure you the VA CPC you were using makes quite a bit more HP than you state although, maybe not on your ETH. This is because the VA you were using was the VERY SAME unit I returned to The PowerShop. It gave me AT LEAST 40 more BHP. Smoke? Maybe on yours. . NOT on mine (as everyone can substantiate).

Hey Rob, since you probably took the Ram to Oregon... does that mean you are going to be roped into playing Santa's helper (i. e. , Rob's Transport Service)? #ad

I did bring the Ram... didn't haul any extra... it was full!

We did not stop in hermiston, but did meet weber1048, power wagon, and vaughn mackenzie for pizza in pendleton. It was a nice visit!

Evan... I don't tell what I have cause I don't care. I also don't really know what I have, and don't want to make any false claims. And no, I don't remember that! You told me 365HP, with slippage from the tires and clutch, figuring at least 375+hp... remember that on instant message??? And I will be watching, but as you can see from other dyno sheets, they are not accurate. Read mikeR's post above. Do you think that is accurate?

Where I can put my BB? Maybe the same place you need to put my trailer, vaughn's manual, your coworker's torque wrench, the VA box, the DD boost module, your DD3. 5s, and your dyno graph... boy, thats a crowded room!

You are so full of it... HP is HP, and it doesn't really matter how you get it. I am adding more fuel. A 12 valve adds more fuel thru a fuel plate. WE ARE BOTH ADDING FUEL!!!
Tell HVAC that his HP is not real... anybody that can do 12 or 13 second 1/4 mile runs HAS REAL HP!!

Sooo, set those wrenches down and slap yourself. You need to get off of this. I did a little search on previous posts... numerous posts from you discuss how you are going to get a box... but I suppose you, like some females, are entitled to change your mind every five minutes. You haven't gotten a box, but you admit that you at least "had the VA in your possession for a few weeks". More like 2 months! Did you or did you not have it connected? who knows? But for badmouthing boxes, you sure kept it a long time!

Evan... Merry Christmas. Leave my box alone, and I will not feel the need to defend it or my "unreal" HP. Let's get back to whats important. Working and playing with our trucks.

After a late start, I did manage to meet up with Rob Hanson and the other guys. A nicer bunch you could not wish for.

It was great to meet you all, definitely worth braving the fog and ice for. I must say, that by the time I went back, I had only about a mile of fog to drive through, instead of the many miles of pea soup I "enjoyed" on the way over #ad

I second that.

Yes some of us have been a little disappointed as of late and haven't known how to respond to it. It isn't easy when someone you consider a real friend and comrade lets you down or doesn't keep their word. But it is easy to let the negative outweigh the good and things get out of perspective. I can think of many times Evan has gone above and beyond for the NW BOMBers and has given a lot for little in return. He's drilled 2 exhaust manifolds for me (besides several others) and helped install gauges twice (the first time was a PITA tapping into the dimmer circuit for the gauge lights). He has helped several guys straightpipe their exhaust and he drove all the way to Tri-Cities to do mine. He came up with the 6-way turn-signal conversion and helped myself and others do the same. He's committed quite a bit of time and effort in putting together BOMBvoys and other get-togethers. He's always great to have around at BOMBfests and BS sessions. I've appreciated and enjoyed Evan's contributions on the forum and his style of humor. I am sure Evan has been asked a bazillion times for help with this, his opinion on that, "where did you get this," "how did you do that. " It is probably worse now than ever since he started working at the Power Shop. If I were asked questions and pestered as much as he is, it would drive me mad.

I know Evan has done a lot for many people, he's done far more for me than I've done for him. I suspect the same may be true for quite a few others. But helping each other out has been one of the greatest virtues of being a NW BOMBer and TDR member. There are many others besides Evan that have contributed much for little or no return, but it's worth it for the sake of being a NW BOMBer and Cummins fanatic to the bone #ad

well that's my little speech

Vaughn out

So lessee...

Electronically derived fueling is not real hp, and mechanical mods are real hp?

I guess that explains the low power on the 24v trucks... its all electronically derived, thus it isn't real.

Seriously, I have always felt that anything other than the engine producing power (nitrous systems in particular) was "cheating" in a way. But lets face facts, that NO2 and any other power enhancement device will produce a given result at the rear axle, can break driveline parts, and must be planned for in building the bottom end of the engine. Thats real enough for me.

My inclination in planning for power enhancement on my truck is to go the "mechanical" route, since this cuts down on failures that can be much like chasing ghosts. further, a mechanical device is not as likely to fail "because it feels like it", since we all know electronics fail not as much because of wear but from conditions beyond control, etc.

So lets take this to the learning phase. What can be done to make the injection pump better and more able to survive? What kills it to begin with? Is there something inside the pump that allows the computer to monitor fuel volume, and how can it be modified?

Is the HX40 turbocharger a bolt on mod? On its own merits, what are its advantages?

One horsepower equals 550 foot-pounds per second equals 746 watts equals 2546 BTU per hour equals one horsepower. Don't matter how you wazzoo the whizzler thingy - one Hp equals one Hp.

Those are the enemy!
Although I feel the 24 valves are a huge disappointment, they are still a Cummins, and can be fixed with a P7100. So I will let you guys slide.

Evan... it didn't start til you started posting about "real" HP! And well after some other more personal things. However, I am more than willing to get back to the important stuff. (See previous post).

I could not agree more with Vaughn's statements of how you help people out, including myself. The NW BOMBers is not just any one person, it takes us all to make it work and keep it going. All of us contribute to each and every BOMB party.

Now, it is time to get back to those more productive things. Whoever gets some BOMBs for Christmas, let us know and we can schedule an event to help ya install them! And I can certainly envision Evan and I working on the project truck shoulder to shoulder.

Merry Christmas to all!

Thanks for the invite Rob... . I still have stuff from last year that I haven't installed yet. #ad
