Need advise on recon Uniden CB's

The truckstop in the city has got reconditioned Uniden radios on sale for around $120Cdn ($80USd). Now he has the 68XL and the 78XL and the 78 with weather-band for about another $20.
The sales guy was saying that more often its just the Diode that burns out inside from guys hookin them up to a positive ground truck backwards through the antennas. (Darn Macks. . LOL)

Are there any other concerns with the radios I should be aware of??

Jason, Uniden radios are probably the best chassis in the world. it is the foundation for most of your high end radios. Referbs. are good radios too, we sell them all the time to save the customer money. A hundred dollar bill for a 78xl with weather ain't bad at all, it still has a year factory warranty. Pete

Folks,

The best no frills CB I have seen is a Wally World find by Uniden. It was $29. 95. Small, 40 channel, 4 watts, works great. I don't worry about it getting beat up in the cab, its a throw away if it breaks, and no big deal.
