Put on a set of Bilsteins about 2 months back... ... buddy and I did shocks, brakes, track bar, etc all at once. He did the front shocks for the most part..... I'm getting a clunking noise when I hit bumps, so checked the shocks and towers, and found all tight except the retaining nut on top of the front shocks. When we got these shocks, there were NO instructions, no nothing for reference. Just shocks, and large washer/grommets and nuts for the front. The front shocks have a large washer on top of them, followed by what appears to be a big rubber grommet that has the large part under the tower, then a piece that goes thru the tower and out the top..... on top of this rubber piece is another washer/grommet, followed by the retaining nut. Just how tight are these retaining nuts supposed to be????

The piece of rubber that sits between the tower and the washer grommet on the top of the tower appears to be worn away around its sides... ... ..... I assume this is from the nut not being torqued correctly????

With no instructions to be found on Bilsteins website nor anywhere else that I can find, I am shooting in the dark here.

HELP!

Thanks,

Rogue

What HEMIDART said. I suspect you left them loose to start with. Also the bottem needs to be very tight. At least 100 lbs. torque. I just impact the heck out ot them with a 1/2" gun.

What about those

rubber grommets??? Any ideas? The passenger side one has most of the rubber that would sit on top of the shock tower gone, the driver side actually feels smooth (is that normal?) and does not appear to have any rubber at all that sits between that big washer and the tower... .....

I'll also be calling Bilstein in the AM... ... .
