Anyone know where to purchase just the driver's sided CIPA extendable Electric/Heated Mirror?
So there I am sitting at a red light in my truck in South Los Angeles, going back to work with some co-workers after lunch. Next thing I know some guy flies by me on the left and smashes into my mirror #@$%!. I pull in behind him and hit the air horn to get his attention, not that he needed it, because the accident was loud.
He gets out and tries to blame me, says my mirrors stick out too much and that my mirror hit his. Guy gives me his drivers license, but refuses to give me a phone number or insurance card, plus he doesn't want me to call the police. All the people in my truck took out their cell phone, one girl had a digital camera with her and started taking pictures. The guy saw everyone taking his picture and sorta straightened up. Still would not give me his insurance card, said it was a company van and the co. would pay. I took the name and ph # off the van.
Get back to my office and call the co, woman says boss would have to call me back, had to call them back two more times to get the boss. He wanted to see the damage, wanted me to drive over to his co so he could see what happened. I told him to talk to his driver.
So I call CIPA USA to get a part number for the drivers side, was told 73511. Was told AutoZone carries them, but it would have to be a special order. I call AutoZone guy says they don't carry that model and since his computer didn't have it coded, he couldn't order one. Call back CIPA USA, was told to contact Camping World as they would definitely be able to help me out. Must be my unlucky day, because the guy I spoke with told me the drivers side mirror was 73500, which is the # for the pair, and that one would cost me $479, which by the way was the cost for a pair so I might as well purchase the pair. Sheese! Call back CIPA USA was told to contact any RV repair shop that they should be able to hook me up.
There has to be an easier way to order just one replacement mirror. Oh, before I forget this part, company of the driver that hit me, wants me to buy a replacement and send them the receipt for reimbursement.
I don't believe I'll be doing things their way. They can purchase the mirror where ever I can find one, I'll pick it up or have it sent to me and I'll install it myself.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Sorry about the long post, needed to vent a bit.
Here's hoping tomorrow is nicer to me.
Smashingly,
Casey
