You may have missed your boat on your ocean stuff. maintenance isn't warranty, it's just plain old common maintenance. I never once in my life thought or expected it to be warranty, so I don't know where you dug that comment up. Also, I have my extended warranty in front of me. I know what I have and don't have. Please tell me how you can tell me what I have and don't have??

Your comments are unreal and you may keep your ocean stuff. You seem to have vast knowledge on how to talk to people incorrectly then warranty knowledge. It's simple, if you don't like extended warranties, don't buy them. I've never been denied warranty in my life on any warranty or extended warranty. Just like I said in my original post, I feel it's cheap insurance.

Oh, and YES it does cover alot of interior items. I just looked. You may stop by your dealer and get a copy of the Maximum care coverage and educate yourself.

Just a few things interior wise that it covers; seat belts, all modules, all wiring harnesses, seat motors, seat tracks, steering column, lamps, glove box, latches and catches, pedals, switches, radio, speedo cluster, HVAC system, all motors, rear view mirror, overhead display, sunroof, gauges, and more then I want to type.

Everybody is different and not everybody wants or likes extended warranties. I happen to like them, have good luck with them and I buy them. But I do not like when people offer me comments that are uncalled for. CBRAHS, you may keep your ocean front property, be a good place for you to retire.

Earl,

I was not trying to be a smart @$$ but simply telling you and who ever reads this post that a TON of dealers tell people that the extended warranty that they are trying to sell is BUMPER TO BUMPER. Having several years experience in the service department of both GM and Mopar and calling people up and telling them that their extended warranty would not cover the defective part sucks. They get all bent out of shape, yell and scream. There are several different levels of extended warranties out there and SOME DO COVER MAINTENANCE. GM has GMPP Major Gaurd and has a provision for oil changes and tire rotations. DC has the same plan. WHat you failed to mention on the first reply is the level of coverage you had, rather simply stating bumper to bumper. I have one on my new truck and i made dam sure that it covered as much as possible, been there done that and was not going to get the shaft on some low quality warranty! As far as retirement. I am 34 years old, ALREADY RETIRED and working on a second retirement!

It sounds like you have one quote from the dealer for $0 deductible and one from the website for a $100 deductible. I think mine was $1875 for the MAX care with $50 deductible

Need some advice here. Does anyone have any first-hand experience with this dealer (Champion Dodge in Barrington, IL) selling service contracts nationwide? I am expecting my 6. 7 on April 10th. My dealer quoted me $4400 for the max care 7/100k. My quote from the website above is $1955. Big difference here.

I should mention I am buying on a DC employee's EP discount, so I am assuming the dealer is factoring their profit on the sale into the selling price of the service contract. The sales rep could barely keep a straight face when he told me the price and changed the subjet immediately.

Thoughts?

$4400 is more than twice the retail price i believe. Just like replies in the past on this thread, avg price is about $1900. I also got mine for EP pricing and they also gave me the extended contract for $1 over cost and showed me the books to prove it. Tell them you will go to another dealer and buy the contract if they don't work with you.

I believe now that you weren't trying to be a smart-***. At the time I did and man did it light the fuse on my tampon. I apologize for my behavior and hope that my tampon explosion hasn't harmed our membership relationship.

My dealer didn't call it bumper to bumper. They asked if I was interested in the "service contract" and I said if you mean extended warranty then oh my yes. I call it bumper to bumper because its darn close. Does it cover the bumpers, no. But it does cover the shocks which is close enough to the bumpers for me. My dealer only offered one extended warranty to me, with three deductible choices. My truck being diesel, I wasn't able to get the optional "Scheduled maintenance care". All diesels and vehicles using synthetic oils are excluded from this option. Option=more $$$. If my truck wasn't excluded, I would of had to research to see if it was cheaper, about the same, or more expensive then regular service. But I was excluded before I could even be asked.

If other D. C. dealers are offer something other then Maximum Care Service Contracts, I'm unaware of this. Even when my 93 was bought new at the same dealer, they only offered one warranty. So in my eyes, there's only one D. C. warranty. If they would of offered my a warranty other then D. C. , I wouldn't of bought it. I'm guessing some D. C. dealers sell "aftermarket" warranties???

I do know aftermarket warranties are crap. My dad fell victim to this in the past. He had a trans problem, trans was taken apart and layed on a shelf for two weeks at the repair shop waiting for a rep to come and inspect it and he said the failed parts weren't covered. So my old man was screwed out of the warranty cost and two weeks + of rental car fees. He canceled the warranty and was to get a refund of the unused remaining warranty. That never happened either.

Earl,

I have to apologize myself. You can still buy the maintenance program. Your dealer should have offered it to you but some dealers see that program as a pain in the the butt because the way that they have to write the RO and submit it to DC for payment. No, I did not get any tampon frags on me!! LOL!!

I chose to go with an after market warranty on my truck because i do so much traveling. If I get stuck in the boonies I can still use it because they pay with credit card right away. I dealt with them a lot when i was in the service dept. There are some out there that don't pay for ANYTHING!!

Had one that had a cap on the labor $ per hour that they would pay, did not pay tax, did not pay diag, the customer had to meet the minimum $ amount before they would even start to cover it. It almost reminded me of a health insurance plan where you had to pay the first $2000 and then they would kick in and pay but you also had to pay the deductible on top of that! There are some pretty big scams out there, I can only suggest that everyone does their homework and research on the company before they buy a plan online (unless it is from the manufactures website you should be ok).

Rscaletti,

That is were I bought my Service Contract. Seemed very nice & seemed honest (I know hard to believe);) and I got my contract Direct from Chrysler about 10 days later. I even had a VIN check done & the warranty is in there!

And they are WAAAY cheaper than the dealer!!

I feel with the way vehicles are built today that the safe option is to make it the manufactures problem for as long as possible. At 75 to 80 dollars per hour and the price of parts $2000 for a extended warranty is a safe bet in my book!

Wow, this could take me awhile.

OK Sam, I have worked as the finance manager before and I am very good at it, but I wasn't greedy. I rather sell alot of contracts rather than make alot off of one. I now work for the govermant and still do sell part time.

Now with this all said, I have 2 contracts on my 04 555 4x4 quad 6spd. I sold the truck to myself and I put the highest repair contract 7/100 on mine with a 100 deductable and the oil change contract with 28 oil changes. The service contract even covers a rent car while my truck is in for any maintanance, even a oil change. I look at this as insurance. Also the 100 deductable is per trip in. so if you have a minor think, you may want to wait and do several at one time.

DON'T EVER BUY A NON MANUFACTURE WARRENTY!!!!!!!! THESE THINGS ARE RIPOFF, I SHOULD KNOW, I HAD THEM TO SELL, BUT I NEVER EVEN TRIED TO SELL ONE.

Anyway, if you want a fair deal, call Ron at 801-544-5800, only talk to Ron.
Tell him Big Sarge told you to call him.

I just purchased a 3500 QC 4X4 C&C and with the new emissions systems on all new Diesels I think the extended warranty is a good insurance policy. No one knows just what is going to happen with this new emission system.

I bet every Ford owner that bought the extended warranty when the 6. 0 was first introduced knows just what I,m talking about.

I can't understand why there are so many negitive responses to this option, but it is our decision and don't think it was a bad decision, if I never need it which is a good posibility because D/C is a superior product in my opinion, then it was at least a good insurance policy.

Bumper to Bumper? have never seen an extended warrany that is bumper to bumper. They don't cover interior items or maintenance items. If the dealer told you it was bumper to bumper, i have some ocean front property here in new mexico fer ya.

Do you call the Rio Grande ocean front property? I'm up against the Rio Grande. Seriously, I purchased the extended warranty for half price as it has a high mark up and is very negatiatable. I also purchased the extended warranty on my 95, for a little over half price, and never used it once.
