Situation: Exhaust valve seat blew into cylinder #1, piston chewed it up. The head has some level of damage with debri embedded in the cylinder #1 area. Cyl #4 has minor debri damage as well.

Goal: 100% confidence upon startup - 520 hp, EGTs under 1200* for my typical towing (MI/OH/IN = flat land) of a 6500# TT, decent streetability, occassional street and strip playtime, and long term reliability. I know, I know... . a common TDR member's dream...

Assuming the head passed a magnaflux test, what is the viablity of repairing this head while meeting my goal as stated above?

I have been hearing that a 24v head is somewhat scarce these days. Anybody know who might have stock?

TIA,

Bill

I think I know someone who might have one. With some work done to it too, it just came off a 12V Pulling truck. I will PM you his #. ;)

Did you really just make a Katrina joke? Ya gotta be kidding me.

R-N-R you can check e-bay they have a few on there from time to time. Or you can call J. R. Adkins at 317 281 3130. He can probably help you out.

Wasnt a joke

Im sure the people down there are looking to sell about any of there ruined stuff they can ...

Starting a Water damaged CTD/RAM parts site/forum would probly be a good idea right now it will help both the sellers and the buyers

I wasnt being sarcastic

It is hard to say without seeing it, but I have seen worse looking heads that survived and ran well. If it passes a magnaflux, replace the damaged valves and seats and mill it to get rid of the "burrs" in the combustion chamber.

Email *ICEMAN*. He sold his truck and when I talked to him a month ago, he still had a spare head from it. It is a 24v head. Good luck.
