First off I have to say that I am pretty fustrated with this kit. I guess the instructions are good, but the universal brackets and ability to mount the system in the location shown in the pics is one of the most difficult things I have ever tried to do. Fortunately I have got past that part only to run into a problem at the CP3. I have a factor MOPAR Jake brake and the fitting that goes into the CP3 interferes with it.

1. I need to know if I can splice the new FASS hose into the original low pessure hose.

2. Should I do this before or after the factory filter?

3. How do I ID the correct hose?

4. How do I make the connection? Double ended brass barb with FI hose clams?

I have the 150 Pump and Filters and my truck is a '03 HO short bed 4wd.

For over $600 you would think there would be at least a warning or disclaimer in the instructions before you cut into your factory fuel system.

I really need to get this truck running tomorow.

TIA,

Aaron

Just run the FASS into the stock filter housing. Just follow the stock pressure line to the back of the housing, pull it off, and hook the FASS into it. It takes the same fitting at the CP3 as it does at the back of the filter housing. There is no need for splicing or cutting the factory piping.

I would call the company-you probably aren't the first to run into this and they can probably walk you through it. i've never seen a factory jake on a dodge so I cant help much

That was me you talked to. I worked though most of the mounting issues. but I do think there has to be a better mounting solution then the universal mount. If I had more time I would have fabed something up on my own. I guess one of the problems in that since the system is on the large size it is hard to squeeze it in the small space under the bed.

The first fix you suggested worked fine, but it was easier then you think. Since there was a flex line off the factory hard line I just cut it off and slipped the blue hose over it. The metal line already had a ridge in it, but it is smaller then the new flex line so I used 2 FI hose clamps.

I know there are many combinations of aftermarket and factory options that can interfere with another part, but if the problem is known to exist there needs to be a correction to the directions or the dealers need to know about it, so they can ask the right questions so the customer is happy. I called several different dealers and I didn't feal comfortable with there sugestions that's why I tracked you down. I am very with happy with the tech help and the time you took to help me and I am very happy with the performance of the kit now that I have it installed. I guess since I ran into the problem at 3am in the morning after wrestling with the mounts for 3 hours I was tired. I was trying to get the truck running for work and it took another evening of wrenching.

To answere a couple of the other questions... . The factory Jake runs off a belt driver vacuum pump. The pump mounts right over the CP3 pump and I think it is where you would mount a dual CP3 pump. I am guessing that is why Dodge uses the low profile banjo bolt. The adaptor fitting and 90* elbow for the FASS doesn't allow Jake pump to seat. I tried to file the housing, but it hits the bearing assembly and you can not remove enough material.

I hope this helps others when they research this upgrade using the search feature.
