I don't see a black box in the sig, but keeping a stock 06 below 1250° towing up a grade seems nearly impossible based on what I have seen the 04. 5-07 motor do with a load. 3K rpms is a lot, and beyond the OEM defuel point, but still lower than redline so that shouldn't have effected anything.

Does it follow rpms, or speed?

Nothing really abnormal on the UOA for a relatively low mileage truck. What is the unit of measure for soot?

Not saying all power mods are bad, in fact after looking at an OEM timing MAP I don't see how one could want to leave their 04. 5-07 stock, it's nasty and 100% based on emissions.

A video might help too.

I had a knock a couple years back, really could only hear it at idle and just above but was rpm dependent. Turned out my motor doesn't like Cetane boost, stopped the boost the knock has been gone since.

Speaking of timing, I have a Smarty Jr. for the purpose of the fuel efficiency mode. I understand that the Smarty Jr. is advancing the timing. Advancing the timing causes higher cylinder pressures and temperatures. Will this reduce the reliability of my engine (crank bearings, connecting rods, wrist pins)over time? The folks at mads suggested to try SW1 with timing set to 4 (most advanced). Ihave no idea what the timing map for stock or with SW1 with timing set to 4 looks like. Do you have some charts or info that you can share?
 
I would run SW1 all defaults on the 16May software.

Yes it does increase cylinder temp/pressure, but not any more than would have been there if the EPA didn't exist. There isn't anything that shows what SW1 is out of the box, but you can see in this pic how the stock timing is VERY retarded. The blue is similar to what I run with UDC and is more aggressive than I think the Jr on SW1 is, and it's still VERY mild timing.
