K_arts and I were installing my Blue Chip FMS box and got stumped on how to install the fuel pressure gauge that it came with. It came with a digital sender of some sort that has threads and looks like it may screw into where the schraeder check valve is before the VP44. The instructions were a little vague on this part of the install and we were scratching our heads at this point. Do I take out the Schrader valve and install the sender unit there. It almost would seem this is the case but fuel would not flow thru it, do I need some Banjo bolts?  Need some help here please.

fuel sender

Generally speaking the male threads on the sender should be 1/8"NPT threads. I would not mount the sender directly to the VP as the vibaration will kill the sender very quickly. WHat I did with my Dakota Digital FP gauage is this. I removed the Banjo w/ the schrader valve on the VP and replaced it with a Tapped banjo from Geno's. I then plumbed in a short 1/8 NPT nipple from the banjo to a 1/8NPT 45degree elbow. To the elbow I attached one end of a 24inch long grease gun hose. Grease gun hoses are also 1/8NPT for their fittings. ON the other end i attached a 1/8NPT pipe coupler and then the sender. I ran the hose and sender up to the area by the brake fluid reseviour on the driver side and zip tied it there. Then wire it up and it should work fine. I did run the hose through a length of wire loom to make sure it did not chafe on anything. No probs in over a year this way.

The hose works as a buffer for the pulses of the injection pump and keeps the sender from vibrating too much.

U can also buy a pre-made hose from Geno's now that has a schrader adaptor on one end and 1/8NPT fitting on the other. I would have done this but it was not available at the time I did mine. It really simplies the project.

Hope this helps.

BTW the fuel doesnt have the flow threw the sender. The sender senses the pressure that the fuel is exerting on the sender and translates that to a PSI number.
