i have a 98. 5 24v. my injection pump is on it's last legs with codes and running issues. so i'm getting everything geared up to replace it. i am curious if i should just get it rebuilt or if there are upgrades or aftermarket ones anyone has used that would be better. any information would be great. i have beefed up everything around the engine. bd transmission and things like that. im ready to start adding more power. i don't wanna race my truck. i just pull alot of heavy loads. so any info would be great. thanks everyone.

DieselAutoPower.com Talk to Jacob for a great deal. A SOVP (direct replacement) is all you need to get to 650hp. the "hot rod" pumps arent worth it on a DD/tow vehicle and dont make any more total power anyway.

Check out Industrial Injections products. I bought one from them,Installed it myself and its still running strong. That was 50,000 miles ago. Make sure you upgrade your Lift Pump (Electric fuel pump). That's probably what caused the problem in the first place.

Good Luck

Mike

i was also curious if anyone used the fass direct replacement pump and if they liked it?does that fass direct put out more fuel pressure or is it at stock?

At idle my ddrp puts out about 16-17 psi. They are supposed to flow 30% more fuel which I haven't checked yet. It's been in a year and if it lasts the four warrantied years I'll be happy.

I have installed the DDRP, bought the frame mount kit so it is back by the tank, and installed 1/2 inch line from tank all the way to the VP, use mechanical gauge, which shows 16-17 at idle. I too will go with the bluechip pump, when mine fails, i like that it includes new computer with no heat cycles, and new case.
