@TunTavern1775 and @Regcabguy ,
Thanks for the info. I ordered the 285/75 but I think I will change to the 295/70. I like that option better.

Regarding the Airlift bags, you might consider installing accumulator tanks to soften the harsh ride if the bags. I did this on my 2006. I used 4" schedule 80 pvc pipe about 3' long (2 pcs) with end caps and treaded the air fittings in the end caps. 2 pcs of pipe on each side of the frame tucked in out of the way. Hope this make sense. I remember an article in one of the older TDR issues regarding this. Original author used a ping tank I believe.
That's an interesting concept. I would like to find that article to get a better understanding. Everything I've researched hasn't given me any indication the bags would affect ride quality, with them being set at 5 psi unloaded. I planned to go hard line out back, beside the license plate with a T connection, so I could air up both sides simultaneously. I have a nice Viair compressor that I just bought for tire inflation and to pump up the bags when I hook up the TT.

I had 5 psi in the bags and still had a rough ride. Took them off just to verify the ride. Yep. Made a difference. I had Carli suspension at the time. Put the accumulator on....smoothed out the response time on the bags.

What do you like better about the 295’s?

The 285’s will fit your OEM wheel better.

I’ve personally never noticed 5psi in the bags on the HD trucks, or even a Tacoma.

You’ll want to plumb them independently. When plumbed together air will transfer side to side around corners and won’t add any lateral stability. If you have a high CG load the leans could stay after the corner longer than without airbags.

There are usually two factors that drive the most complaints on airbags. 1) running them at max pressure despite the load. 2) instability from plumbing them together.

I did go with the 285's.....I was thinking the same thing about the wheels.

I agree about plumbing the bags separate. it is well worth it.
TunTavern, if you decide to install accumulator tanks, go with a 3/8" fitting in and 1/4" out of the tank

Vote for BFG AT KO2 here. I have probably had 6 sets of these on two different trucks (99 and 2011) and have nothing but good to say. I have never had a flat with one or a leaky one. I use my truck in all weather, do some towing and hauling occasionally too. Use it some off road, pulling hay wagon, equipment, etc. The BFG's seem to be a perfect blend of traction, mileage and toughness, for me at least. i think they do well in the snow too, at least for the first half of their life.

Just had the 285/65/20 Nitto Recon Grapplers installed. Factory suspension with rear air. No fitment issues. No rub at full lock and look way better then the stockers. They fill up the whell well nicely. I’ll get a feel for the noise and ride at highway speeds tomorrow when I head to work.

Just put on the Cooper 285/75 R18 AT3's. Sure do like the feel of new tires! Looks like we will get some snow soon so I will be able to get the real feel of the tires in the snow soon.
The installer at Discount Tire refused to re-install the Centramatics. He said the spacer style of them will cause the wheel lugs to loosen and eventually the tire will fall off!! I didn't ask for documented proof. Somethings are just not worth the time.

Next up is to get a program/device to reprogram for change in tire size. Thing of the Alpha OBD II set up. I know very little about it. Time to get educated.

Cheers

Update: Drive about 40 miles to work. Took some county roads and the highway. Rode nicely. No more noisy then the factory Firestones. Balance beads seemed to work well, no vibrations. Overall happy with the tires. Time will tell on treadwear.

@Herman8r, I can tell you that after the miles that I have on mine, wheels won't loosen and fall off! That goes to show you that they won't/don't want any extra liability to there bottom line!
You have no issues with changing the tire size in Alfa. You'll need the tire circumference to put into the app. If you need additional help, just ask through a thread or PM. You can also dry run any change you want to do without being connected to the truck. Helps you get comfortable with what needs to be done and where it is in the app.
Hope you get a chance to run truck without and then with the Centramatics on the same roads and speeds to note any differences.

These are the same monkeys that use torque limiting extensions in leu of an actual torque wrench... I made them hand torque the wheels on any vehicle I've had tires put on... they never go back until tires are in need of replacement... In a perfect world Id get my own tire machine and remove them from the equation.

The Discount's in San Diego have no issue with. They're maybe an eighth of an inch thick max. I luck out I guess.

It surprises me they (tire shop techs) pay that close of attention to them... Id say with retainers on, they would not do anything.

I was thinking of adding additional retainers to the front. The back had 4 on each side. The front only had 2 opposing each other. 4 sounds like a better balance as far as torqueing the wheel back on.

Just turned 90k. Put on a set of Michelin LTX’s at 28,000 mile. i still have at least another 10k left on them. Best tires I’ve ever owned. That’ll be 72,000 miles with a ton of towing and off road mileage. Pretty impressed myself.

Rotated every 10k and run 65lbs air.

Regen, that's really impressive.
65 lbs of air front and rear?
