Maybe I'm just being paranoid but if you guys could do me a favor... next time you're in your truck and it's warmed up, turn off the radio, fan, and roll up the windows. Put the transmission in neutral and push the clutch pedal in... then let it out and see how much noise you hear when the clutch is engaged (transmission input shaft spinning). I changed the clutch and didn't notice a change. I changed the fluid (looked bad... a lot of black material) and didn't notice a change. I hauled the boat on a trip and stomped on it quite a bit to test the clutch. Now I hear the transmission input shaft "whirring" and before I didn't notice it (input shaft bearings going?). Anyhow, thanks in advance.

I have the early 6spd with the small input and I installed the same 5spd SB clutch you have. It also makes the same noise at idle in neutral-pedal out. I believe it's the more stout and solid disk transmitting throw out bearing noise.

Thanks Mike. I appreciate you checking. Has anyone else seen a lot of black stuff (looked like coal dust) in your lube when you changed your transmission fluid?
