Unable to tighten injection pump shaft nut to specs

Looking for a good Diesel shop in New Jersey

Supposed to leave from NH to TN Wednesday morning. Clutch slipped on me today. Of course it did. I am going to gamble and head out on Wed anyway and treat it very very nice.

It's just family and a bagger in the bed. I have taken the tune out and will drive as lite as needed to get there.

If it does well I will probably gamble and come home to do this in my garage, but if it gives me trouble I will have clutch and rear main changed while we are in TN.

Looking for a recommended shop between Knox and Vonore. My in laws live in Vonore.

If you don’t get what you want from CD, I’d suggest calling SBC and asking them for a recommendation for a shop in the area.

Not trying to steer you from CD, just thought I’d tell you what I’d do.
 
Talked to city diesel. I am waiting on a final word from them as I drive down.

I definitely need to have it done. I can't use cruise on the hills. Having to slowly loose speed so no slipping. Ah the fun of high millage trucks.

If city does not work out what or who is SBC?
 
Got to Vonore this afternoon. Unloaded and chilling with the fam. Dropping truck off with city diesel Monday so they can work it in asap. Hard way to spend money when I have the means to do this at home. My fault for going so long at 265k miles.

Thanks for the reference. Hate having to cold call for a repair like this. Hoping I can give another positive reference in a week or so.
 
If anyone wants to do some MC riding I am game. This area is my favorite place o ride for a few years now coming down to visit the In laws.
Giving the bike a bath and a shine and a once over after bouncing around on the NY and Penn roads tomorrow AM.
 
So after a very long couple of weeks I was on the road again.

CityDiesel got the trans out. There was still material on the clutch so majority of the problem was the leaking rear main which just showed up as well.
The pilot bearing was gone. Only the race on the input shaft was left.
Input shaft needed to be replaced.
Rear trans mount was broken. I was hoping this was going to explain my weird vibration at 65mph.
I ended up replacing the carrier again after 6 months cause I still had a bad vibration come in at 55 now.

Still have a vibration that now cycles in and out on 3 second intervals once I hit 70. At 65 it is very smooth.

Guess I still need to bite the bullet and go with a single piece shaft.
