We just purchased a used 2004 KZ Frontier travel Trailer. The previous owner had a blow-out with one of the left side tires, and while towing it home, from Arizona to Colorado, I had a blow-out on the right side. Naturally the tires tore off the fender flares.
I've noticed many trailers on the road with part or all of the flares missing, I'm assuming from the same cause. I've been pricing replacement flares, and the they seem to run in the $150.00 each range. Most I've looked at are plastic, and I'm concerned that they will be prone to breakage as easily as the O.E.M. parts. Either from another tire failure, or road debris, etc.
Does anyone know of some sort of universal skirt preferably made of some rubber or other flexible material that might last longer? I'm thinking something that might be bought in bulk length, and cut to fit and formed around the wheel openings.
