I am trying to set up some 2001 QC seats in my 96 CC. These seats have the belts in the seat, and I'd like to use them, if I can get them to work.

I have the power part of the driver's seat working, and I wired up 2 wires for the seatbelt control unit that sits under the center console (I guessed the hot and ground for this by probing the wiring under the seat of my 99). This made the passenger seatbelt work fine, but the driver's seatbelt only comes out 1/3 of possible travel, not even enough to buckle it with no one sitting in the seat.

I still have 4 loose wires that go to the seatbelt control unit under the center console and need to figure out if I need to do something with those wires.

I have a buddy with access to Mitchel On-Demand, and their diagrams are pretty complete, the most complete I have seen, but nothing on the seatbelts.

Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for this setup?

Anyone here work for Dodge that could get me this info?

Thanks,

Chris

Now do your diagrams address the seatbelt wiring? All the diagrams I have been able to get only address the seat heaters, which I don't have, or the power seats, which I already have working fine. It's just the seat belt circuit, with that control module, I can't figure out.

My email is Me@Stamey. Info.

Thanks,

Chris

Diagram is on it's way.

Let me know if it's what your looking for.

It's a little closer than other diagrams I have seen, but does not include the seat belt control module (the part with the motion sensor in it that locks the belts in the event of hard braking, impact or roll-over). It has 6 wires going to it from the wiring harness, then 3 wires going from it to the driver's seat, and 2 going from it to the pass. seat.

Thanks a lot for trying though. I do appreciate your time.

I'm still hunting the diagram. No one yet, even a buddy of a buddy at the dealer, has been able to get me the diagram for the seatbelt control unit. The closest I have gotten is the power seat or heated seat diagrams. I have been probing the connector on my 99 to see if I can reverse engineer it, but have not had time to go through this thoroughly yet.

I may just have a bad driver's seat from the junk yard. When wired it only comes out half way and locks. The passenger seat does not do this. When not wired, neither seatbelt works at all, they are both locked in, fully retracted.

If I figure it out I will let you know. I plan to work on it Wednesday, and maybe go back to the junk yard for a replacement seat.

Let me do a search, someone else did this mod awhile back and had the same trouble. I think they sorted it out though. I am interested in this because I want to put '00 - '02 seats in my '96, I think they are a lot nicer and seem to have a more rugged frame (my seats are getting loose and jiggley with all the miles & wear).

EDIT: I searched and came up empty. . . only found a couple threads & it was the same situation, didn't know what to do to interface wiring and thread just ends. I was thinking about doing this mod with reg. cab seats so I could skip the seat belt deal.

I am doing the same thing, can you email me any of the wiring diagrams you came up with. drew@polyperformance.com

thanks

I looked through my manual (s) and could not find a wiring diagram for the seat belt control module, the only one I was able to come up with is the diagram that I sent to Chris.

If you want that one I would be happy to send it to you.

I was just at the dealer and looked through a 2001 FSM, there was no info on the seat belt tensioners, just how to remove them for changing the seat belts, nothing in the wiring diagrams or connector locations. The only thing I found was the seat belt indicator light, apparenlty the seat belt warning lamp is only on the driver seat and it just grounds the circuit when the seat belt is buckled. That makes since because my driver seat has a 3 wire connecter and the passenger only has two. The LG/RD wire is the seat belt indicator light and the BK/LG wire is the ground. My buddy has a 2000, it will see what I can figure out from that.

I have some sort of control module that connects to the seats that I think mounts to the floor, the problem is the body harness connector has 6 extra wires beside the ground and indicator light wire.

I think I have figured this out. It seams 99 was the last year for the electronic seat belt restraint system. 2000 and newer used standard inertia reels on the seat belts. The only wiring for the 2000 and newer is just for the seatbelt light or buzzer. You could probably switch the belts for the newer ones, but they are about $350 for the pair or you could wire in the seatbelt control module. The seatbelt control module mounts to the bottom of the center console towards the front, it controls the locking and unlocking of the belts reels by external inputs from the ignition switch, and left and right door switches and internal inputs from the built-in g-force meter and timer.

The seatbelt reels have a soleniod that unlocks the belt when 12v are applied from the seat belt control module. There is a wiring harness that connects the seatbelt control module to both seats and the body harness. This is the wiring for the seat belt control module:

DB 18 (dark blue, 18 ga)-fused ignition power in Run and Acc

PK 18-fused battery power

LG/BK 18 (light green/black)-airbag contol module, this is the fault signal from the seatbelt control module that would light the airbag light in the dash if the seatbelt control module is faulty

OR/BK 18-to left seatbelt solenoid

OR/RD 18-to right seatbelt solenoid

TN (tan) 18 to left door ajar switch, grounds when door is closed

TN/RD 18 to right door ajar switch

BK/LG 18 Ground

LB/PK 18 Ground

There will also be a selt belt switch for the seat belt light in the dash, it is a LG/RD 18 wire that grounds when the seat belt is out.

Stamey,

I have a WD for a '99 that shows the seat belt solenoid, seat module & body module wiring , if that will help. My fishing buddy owns a repair shop & got a mitchell WD off the computer for me.

I just posted my problem 2 posts up from you, the day after you, but was not able to get any member help. See "What does your seat belt light do?"

Mine is a weird problem & I cannot figure it out. but from the info I just read in DBurroughs posts, that gives me better insight to the system. the seat belt module in my '99 has a small box between the seats. I looked at a friends module in his 2001. His has a much larger box. I am told its because he has power seats- mines are manual.

In any case, let me know if you need me to scan & forward a copy of the WD to you.

DANG!!! Wish I had seen this sooner. The site didn't email me to let me know there were new posts. I did finally get the wiring diagram for this situation, finding out on another site that my seats have to be 98 or 99. I was told the truck as a 2001, and it the reason I went with it. I have them wired per what you posted, DBoroughs, using only the Dk-Bl, Pink, and Black-PnkStr. The seats seem to work just fine. I will drive it for a couple of days to see if it remains OK before I put my rear panels back in, with the old seatbelts tucked behind it.

Thanks for your help,

Chris

For an update, I installed and wired my seat belt module as posted above and everything works fine. The seat belt module needs to be screwed to the floor BTW, I even wired into the door switches, it was pretty easy, you can just tap into the existing wiring. My original seats were not power, but there was an existing wire and connector for the power seats, I had hoped to just tap into that for power but discovered that the other end of the wire was not tapped into the fuse panel.
