got the zex kit today along with the hobbs switch. i was reading about the tps switch for the kit, why is it so bad to use it? why not just ease into the throttle until you get the boost up then floor it. the hobbs says it runs off liquid or gases so what do you do with the hobbs, does it go under the hood with everything else?also how do you ajust the psi on the hobbs from 15 20 etc... . ?

i put my hobbs in the air horn. You will need a tap for the hobbs also, sorry i used my dads tools. Youll leave out the TPS switch on the zex kit. Dad hooked one wire of the solenoid to a ground, the other to the hobbs, the other post of the hobbs to the arming switch and the other post on the arming switch to the positive of the battery.

With my set up i only use my 150hp nozzle (. 088)? they should come with a chart also. Mines set to come on at about 13-15 psi. The bigger one adds too much (im guessing) because it makes a popping sound like when i miss ajusted it before. :eek:

Theres no need to go with a second stage (for just beginning or playing around) because i can easily break traction in 3rd when it hits :D Not to say that would be nice but i would need to get a smaller turbo so i would have more unburnt fuel.

why not just take the turbo off, that seems to be the best way to have un burnt fuel. Or a more economical way to get less charge air, is gate the turbo for less boost. only one way to oxidize the fuel, that is with oxygen, be it from n20 breaking down under the heat or charge air. oxygen is oxygen no matter how it gets there, i imagine, if you have enough air with your turbo to clean up the fuel you have. you won't gain any horsepower over your turbo. even with it gated to less boost, it would gain over the lessened version of boost, but probably not be much over vs if it had more boost. the popping sound you hear with the bigger nozzle is just too much air for the fuel you have, if you had less boost you could run that bigger nozzle, but it probably wouldn't make any more horse power. because you take oxygen away with the turbo, but add with the nitrous, what you really need to run that bigger nozzle is more fuel, plain and simple.

Use the hobbs switch! I run one on mine set at 20 psi activation. I originally set it at 30 but it was way too low for the dyno. 20 works fine but if I try and activate it via button at 15 it's too low and just blows the fire out. At the bottom of the hobbs is a rubber grommet that you take out and insert an allen wrench or socket and adjust it, I use shop regulated air to simulate boost on everything.

Had a good time with Dino and Joe working sick boys truck :-laf

joe got alot of pics of the in stall, it turned out to be a blast Oo.

Mine fit nicely within arms reach behing the pass. seat and mounted the toggle switch to the bottom left of the stearing wheel. I only have about 1 foot of hose showing from under the seat to the 4wd lever, thats where i put it through and just coiled up the rest at the bottle.

Where did you end up putting the nozzle at.

Your set up looks good from the pictures. I had problems getting into the link so i can only see the pics posted.

SICK BOY had to put his bottle in the bed because he has bigas amp under the back and kids sit on the seat so no room. I was wondering if the link to my the album would work or not???

Go to my readers rigs and look for "SICK BOY's Rig" album for all the pictures. Here's where we put the nozzel for ya.

VERY NICE job guys and a very clean truck too. What size nozzel did you end up using? Where did you put the hobbs switch. Is that it with the hose by your nozzel or sometheing else.

didnt use hobbs switch ,i didnt know what wires to put on it. 150hp nozzle is in now havent played with it that much yet. i guess i need to get my drag comp back to get the full effect of the bottle???also my autometer trans temp gauge just stopped working. its mech. gauge an everything looks ok any ideas?????? :{

Sick Boy - Are you sure it's mechanical? When you turn of the ignition did the gauge still read temperature? I'm kind of doubtful that it's mechanical but you know your truck better than I and that's one thing we didn't even get close to when we were doing the install so I don't know for sure. Where is the trans line to gauge connected? Do a hand over hand trace and see if theres anything loose or, if you find it's not mechanical it could be the sender or just a wire unplugged from it. Other thought all the wires from the compartment were running through the same bulkhead hole - it's possible a wire to the gauge got rubbed and is grounding out? or maybe the power to gauge came out of the fuse tap?

As far as the hobbs switch we didn't have a method of pressurizing it to set the psi to close the switch. It's something we could do if you wanted to - you could get some fittings that would accomodate an air source then have a valve to shut off and maintain psi while the switch is ohmed out to set the close psi, with a gauge then the hobbs switch. Choose what boost pressure you want to have it close at then install the switch in the boost gauge tap on the horn - relocate the boost gauge tap to the manifold/head port Kelly was talking about. Electrically - once the switch is set pressure wise - remove the programmer box, run a wire from the soleonid to the hobbs then back to the activation/arm switch and nitros will be waiting at the solenoid and not come on unless the switch is armed and the boost reaches the preset psi. Sounds simple enough - hey. Hmmmm sounds like another Bomb party in the making . . . . If this (bobm party) is to be planned - get a little red light to go in line like I suggested we'll install it next to the arming switch so you know (for sure) the system is on or not at a glance. I may be a bit off with the electrical part - not having my hands close enought to it at the present - but if we had a way to set the Hobbs I think it would be in already and the ZEX box a Christmas tree ornament . . Have you tried that 200 nozzel yet??? I'll bet that drag comp would really complement the nitros . . . . . :eek:

Sorry im alittle confused on the hobbs switch. Mine came pre-set to what i wanted and as mentioned before there should be a rubber grommet on top that you can pick out and there should be fir for an allen wrench. Mine came set at 25 but that was to high for me so i started playing with it and had the small nozzel in so it wouldnt do to much damage. I had the arming switch on and started unscrewing it until it came on then i turned it 1/2 turns until i got it dialed where i wanted it.

Did you use the TPS switch then. I couldnt find the right wire to hook up the one to the actual tps its self. It kept setting a CEL light on the truck, thats why i gave up on it. Plus if you used it just be careful that you dont get to ansy and punch it. (alot of fuel and nos with no boost would be a bad thing) :eek:

Good Luck and keep playing
