Maine registration fee in my town would be very close to that on a 2013. Based on Window Sticker price when new. Declines every year for 5 years from new. Then bottoms out at a flat figure based on new price.

Hoopty was a $50,000.00 car when new, it costs me 260.00 per year to register. Will never drop any further. It's a 2006 for goodness sake but they don't care.

Correction, should have not relied on the ol' noggin. I just went out and got the registration..

$216.00 per year with a base (New ) price of $42,000.00. I skewed the base when registering for the first time.....:D What can I say.......

$0.98/gallon in 1999 when I got my 24v. That included California's exorbitant taxes too.
I bet if I dug around enough.....I could find a few receipts for less than $0.99/gal when I bought my '98 RAM 2500 Regular Cab 12V w/NV4500 in December 1997. :-laf

Here in Laramie, WY yesterday 1.91 for diesel and 1.79 for reg gas. I will not hold my breath because the Mid-East will pull the rug out soon, as their pockets are getting lighter! Merry Christmas and a Great year to come in 2016.

My truck is $150 a year in GA, but my trailer is registered in Maine with a Semi-Perm tag for $275.00 for 10 years. By doing the registration in Maine it has saved me about $350 a year. Our vehicles tags in GA are based on as a property tax. But our fuel prices rank down there with lowest in the country. Maybe SC or TX may be lower

But God help Maine residents that try to register something out of state. A one-way road.....The State Of Maine sells those trailer plates all over the country.

My mother had homes and property in both Maine and Florida. Got busted in her Maine hometown for having Florida plates. You have to be in that other other state over 6 consecutive months per year or Maine will ticket you for improper registration.

Then the State Of Maine wonders why everyone is dropping Maine residency and changing their permanent residence to Florida or Arizona....Go figure....

Taxifornia cracked down a few years ago on motorhomes being registered out of state. Just being a day late renewing registration here is a substantial penalty, can't imagine what they did to those tax evaders.

MWilson I didn't mean to get you upset. I just took advantage of the loop hole. If I had known about the tags at the time of purchase. I would have titled/registered when new in Maine. I might have gotten away with no sales tax

Oh goodness, not upset. Just one of many screwy policies that this state has. Many fleets across the country take advantage of the Maine Semi-Permanent license program. There are brokers here that handle large fleets.

My point was that the State Of Maine has no problem in taking revenue away from other states, they just don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot.

Mobile, ALabama, Diesel $1.74. This station always has heavy discounts on their diesel cash price but there are quite a few in the area running around $1.85-$1.95. Then there are the ones that are charging over $2.50 that know you don't care or are in a bind if you are fueling there.

Hey guy's my registration for my 08 truck is $101.00 and the wife's TDI is $101.00 a year, with the trailer costing $50 a year. I guess I will stay in good old broke IL.

When comparing Reggie costs, non commercial, you need to see how the vehicle tax is assessed. Some states spread it out and depreciate it. In NY you pay an up front sales tax like buying a TV. The Reggie costs in NY are only use taxes and weight based. Most passenger vehicles are about $125/ 2 years. My trailer @ 8500 GVW costs a little less every calendar year. One neat thing about trailer reggies in NY, if you don't need it till- say racing season starts in April, you can renew it then and only pay for the remainder of the year. Some other states, you pay much more for a Reggie because you're assessed differently taxwise.
