New 08 dually and no tow package

WTF, why does dodge ship these without a tow package on them.



OH well, it's done now.



We need a kit to wire this thing up to tow trailers.



What/where do I go to get what I need?

I have hard that some dealers do not order the hitch on them. try your dealer and a trailer place that sales trailers like a RV dealer. Do not go less than a class 4 hitch,

Yep, same truck



My FIL flew up, picked up the truck and then when he got home he asked me about it.



DS made no mention of it and I just couldn't believe that any dealer ordered a 3500 dually without a hitch.



Either way it's all taken care of now. He called Six Robblees and ordered a hitch along with the B&W turnover ball, Prodigy and airbags.



We will be ordering a Transferflow tank for it also.



Time to tow.

IDK, I haven't been out to look



I have been busy at work so I'm just answering his questions/problems by phone. If I had time I would of swung by to see it all.

Tow Package has always been an option. If you don't order it you don't get it.

When I was at Dave Smith a couple weeks ago I over heard a salesman and accessory guy talking about that very thing, wondering why anybody would order a one ton and not get the tow package but apparently in this case the customer just didn't want it.

This truck was just one they had on their lot. We didn't order it.



Other then being able to offer the truck at a cheaper price I can't see why they would order them without.



If I order a truck it would have all that junk installed even if I was replacing the factory hitch with a Superhitch.

The tow package just isn't that much money, to get it when they ordered it. I'd have to say that DS must have made some mistake when they ordered. Also... If it doesn't have the tow package, it probably doesn't have the wiring harness, under the dash, for installing a brake controller. That's the way it used to be...

Some dealers don't order the package so they can make more on selling there own.

My '02 3500 had no tow pkg. If I remember, the tow harness was $175 and took me 2-3 hours to install. I learned my lesson on that one!

I think some dealers spec them that way to have a couple on the lot offered at a advertised sale price... When you get there, you learn the advertised truck has been sold and they direct you to other higher priced units. The old "bait & hook" sales tactic.

Just wondering what is missing without a tow pkg... heavier engine/transmission cooling, extra leafs in the spring pack, and possibly NO LOCKWASHERS?

When I bought my truck from DS the salesman told me that they order a lot of their truck without the factory tow packages because lot of guys want a gooseneck hitch or a class V hitch. They will install whatever hitch the buyer wants. This way the buyer is not paying for the factor hitch just to have it removed and a different one installed. It kind of makes sense and I'm sure that they've seen the trends considering the amount of business they do.
