Dave Smith has lots of 09's on the lot and 0% financing available but not long for 2010's to come out. What to do ????? Thinking of 2010 to get all the upgrades and inprovements but might lose 0% financing. Any ideas out there that I havent thought of.

DAVE :confused::confused::confused:

The Ford Scorpion V8 diesel, with twin turbos, should be available for '10. This Super Duty should have @ 470 h. p. and over 700 lb/ft torque.

Is there something specific that you will be looking for in the 2010 that would make you choose it over an '09? If not, I don't think you will beat the prices that the remaining '09's are selling for. I am not in the market for a new truck at the moment, but I am very tempted by the current prices that I am seeing.

Personally,

I want to wait until the 2010's come out. There will still be incentives out there since the economy isn't going to come back to make any difference to the manufacturers. I was told that the 2010's were put on hold until the '08s &'09s were sold off, but I must admit that that info came from a highly unreliable source.

2010's = nice.

If the new interiors are as nice as the '09 1500's,that alone will make it worth it the wait. I bought my '07 from DSM. They were super to deal with. I just wish they'd open a store in San Diego. :)

That means it will be fast, fast at breaking down that is. I don't think it will have that rated HP with out compromise on something. Ford always compromises and every Ford I've ever owned proved that fact. My last Ford purchase was a 91 Mustang and I kicked myself every time it broke down and it did it a lot. Never again will I purchase a Ford, unless it is the only truck available to pull my toys, and then I will make sure I have at least two warranty policies to cover the expected breakdowns. Thank God I have two late model CTD's, so that will be unlikely in the near future.

You might want to jump on the 09,if Urea injection happens in 2010... ... ... ... .

who knows how it will be to deal with

Urea is not part of the 2010 emissions abatement package for the non-C&C vehicles... . the current drivetrains are essentially being carried over from 2009 for non-C&C vehicles.

The C&C trucks are getting Urea injection though...

and there is no way that the new Ford diesel will have anywhere near the previously mentioned power levels... and it's not due until MY 2011 anyhow.

A Furd? You got to be joking! What make you think Furd can make a better engine than Navistar International?

Another reason I was thinking about a new 2010 is that I do not know how to tell how long these 09's have been setting on the lot and do not have all of the latest upgrades and so forth. anybody know if there is a way to tell the build date on thesetrucks.

Thanks Dave :):):)

WEL-l-l-l-l - I dunno - the guy who designed and builds those new Ford Scorpion diesels SAID they were better than Cummins - and WAYyyyyyy over built... ;)

Ever been stung by a Scorpion? :-laf:-laf

The MSRP window sticker may be dated, I'm not sure. Seems like the build date is on the truck somewhere, maybe on the sticker in the door post? Maybe someone else knows and can say for sure.

In any case, the dealer salesman can get the date off the dealer invoice sheet for that particular truck that is held in the sales office. If he or the sales manager refuse to provide it that may signal time to move on. The service department can tell you with the VIN if the engine has all the latest reflashes. My guess is any '09 has the latest software upgrades already loaded.

Personally, I would probably buy the last year of the current body style, the '09, rather than be one of the first owners of the new style. Every man makes his own choices how he will spend his own hard-earned money but I always choose the more conservative tried and proven model over the latest flash new models. Less likely to have issues, IMO.

Yep, I agree with your first paragraph.

And in reply to your second, no, I haven't and I'm one of the last guys in America who is likely to be stung by a new one.

No Furds in my future. I could sit around the campfire and tell Furd 6. 0 stories for a couple hours.

As you said, the white door sticker that lists the GVWR etc. will have the month and year stamped on it. I also thought that there was a date on the window sticker, but I don't know for sure.

I'm not sure if all trucks have it on delivery, but my '07 had a small tape sticker on the drivers side back window that said "paint inspection 10/13/06" or something of the like when it arrived at the dealer. I've always wondered if that paint was suspect when it went through a random quality check on the line or if all of them had that marking.

I chose 09 over 10

Harvey,

We are thinking a lot alike. I chose the '09 C&C 4500 over the '10 C&C 4500 due to the increased emisions. I bought my '02 in Aug '02 3500 maufacutured in May '02 and I just bought my '09. with the same reasoning of buying the final year of a model run. I don't think you can go wrong either way and the '10 heavy duties have many new cool feature. Lots to consider in the choices.

On the other side of the coin, we bought my wife's '03 in March '03 and it has been perfect, other than the typical problematic Dodge automatics. Rebuilt at 109K miles.

My '09 will be the first truck I ever owned that I will not be modding at all. Just gauges and a few things to dress it up. That is my advice, whatever you buy... don't mod anything for performance.

Good luck in making your decision.

Did Ford build the 7. 3L? Navistar built the 6. 0 to the tune of $500M in warranty costs and the 6. 4. If Ford puts a Scorpion in an F-350 it does so remembering the 6. 0 fiasco. My bet is on Ford to have a good product and put Dodge to the test. Cummins will respond.
