TiM report from a Duramax owner...

gas in diesel

I work at a ford dealer ship (body shop) And went to the service side and they had a NEW 6. 0 psd with 18 miles on it and it sounded like the piston was hitting the head . Come to find out it had a broken rocker arm. I just dont know about them 6. 0s.

Is that slogan still being used? Haven't heard it lately, maybe it is on the drag chute on the trailer?

Not too many problems with the Cummins

You know it's actually amazing how few problems we do have. I mean you take away the lift pump/injector pump thing on the 24 valve... . you got nothing left to worry about. Take away the 'killer dow pin" thing on the 12 valve... . nothing's left..... no major problems anyway.

I was talking with a friend about the Cummins 5. 9 engine and he made the comment: That engine will go down in history as one of the best designs "ever"! I think he's right.

Sorta feel sorry for the powerstroke/duramax folks. They bought a V8 gas engine that runs on diesel fuel. Kinda sad.

Thats funny. After much research into the longest lived and most reliable powerplants. It came down to one engine. The 5. 9.

Only us I6 guys can enjoy it though. I tried to tell some of the v8 boys about the incredible longevity of the 300. Oh no. Every one of em had a 302 with half a million miles on it and inlines cannot last longer than a v8. Blew my mind. I thought it was common knowledge. I came from a background of 200s 240s 250s and 300s. I knew they rocked at the age of sixteen. Throw in a slant six and an amc 4. 0 and you get the picture. They are flat out indestructable. Not to mention almost all mediums and heavys are inlines. But no. V8s are better. Makes me wonder sometimes which head these guys are thinkin with.
