I would like to get some feedback on our newest design for the 2nd gen rear winch bumper. I tightened it up closer to the vehicle for better departure angle, added recessed steps, and rectangular light mounts.

We just picked up a new project truck '96 V10 long bed that we will be using it on. Let me know what you think, good or bad.

Thanks,

Jim

I think it's friggin awesome!!!

I don't need rear winch, but I DO like the recessed steps and the clevis mounts.

What's pricing on this guy going to be? PM me if neccessary. I'd love to have one.

Keep up the great work.

I like it a lot! I'd definitely consider one to replace my dented OEM bumper, but like AndyMan I wouldn't install a winch.

Man thats sweet! I thought the one I built was nice, but you got me beat hands down..... bet mine is cheaper though:-laf Might have to sell it and get one of yours.....

Given the fact you are not using 3D solid modeling you did a great job! Oh, yes I remember the old days of fabing by hand. Could never make it in today market without the technology.

You may find it interesting how many hours it takes us to build a rear bumper, how much do you think?

Are you counting Research and Developement hours, or actually physically building it? If the second I'm guessing a bumper is done the same day it is started, but thats just a guess. Just out of curiousity, can you PM me a price? I wonder what I could sell mine for... .....

Just manufacturing time from start to finish is 55 minutes. It takes about 3 hours to design and release files to production with OE CAD data. Will PM you right now.

Hey Jim, that is AWESOME!!!!!!! I just called ya, and got your wife, looking forward to talking to ya. I might have to have you include one of those rear bumpers on the pallet with my new front Low Profile bumper! :D Obviously I will pay for it! :-laf

Sorry Matt:

I have been slammed getting product out prior to our move to Colorado next week. I have a ton of new designs released to the laser shop and they are backed up.

I like it better than your old design---guess things do improve the second time around:-laf:-laf:-laf. Wish the rear winch option was available when i bought mine last year. Goodluck with your new bumper. ;););)

Yes, I was never really satisfied with that design it was very bulky. Since I started over from scratch I thought I would take the time to update the design. Glad you guys have found it to be good so far!

Thanks,

Jim

Nice! I've been considering replacing my rear bumper. Not sure if DOR is still in business but he was making a rear aluminum bumper that had inside storage space (chains, shackles etc) and a swing away tire carrier. Ever considered anything making anything similar to this? Not necessarily from Aluminum.

Just curious, how did you come up with the name "Alien Patrol" for your business.

Hi Mike:

Thanks for asking, it took me about 2 months to finalize the name. I wanted something light hearted, unique, (not gothic as that is overused) a name people would remember. So far it has paid off. The guys at GM's tech center absolutely loved it. Some people have complained about our phone message, most however find it amusing and have actually called just to hear it.

As for storage and such it would certianly be possible to located storage bins below the recessed step holes. As for tire carriers I have built hundreds of them, although I find them a PITA as far as having to swing them out of the way. I plan to build a pretty trick stainless double tiered rack system for my 2nd gen and carry the spare over cab.

You know some of the best options have come from the user community! Keep up the suggestions and I will be glad to accomodate.

Best regards,

Jim
