Heavy Heavy Heavy Duty
Yep; took the plunge! You're right, though; she's sorta squished. The Timbrens are smashed pretty flat. I e-mailed the Timbren folks to see if there's something else I can do. Otherwise, I think you're right; either air bags or some overloads off a Peterbilt. My next question is the tires; I need to go down to the local Les Schwab store & either get them to tell me the factory Michelin's are OK hauling, like 20 tons, even though they're rated for 1-1/2 tons; or I guess get me some Peterbilt tires, too. Actually, the truck handled pretty well on the freeway @ 65 MPH coming back from LaGrande, but I didn't have anything in it; no water, no groceries, no clothes, etc. I've also got to do something for a hitch extension for my Ranger, but I don't want one of those chained up deals if I can help it. Anyway, she's a real purdy outfit if'n I can keep from breaking the poor 'ol Power Wagon's back. Got plenty of power; just need to figure out some way to keep it on the road! Sure lots of room with that little slide, huh? I'm really impressed so far with the quality of the Fox; looks like they put it together pretty good. I'd looked pretty close at the Eagle Cap's &, of course, am pretty much Lance-minded, 'cause I've had one for so long, & it was a really good outfit; never any trouble with it! I kinda liked the idea of the metal frame on the Eagle Cap, but one of the local RV repair guys told me he's fixed a lot of them; the aluminum tubing was cracking at the welds, according to him, so he pushed me toward the Fox; he said he thought the Fox was the best unit on the market right now. I couldn't even get close to standing up in the Eagle cap or Lance shower, but with the skylight in the Fox, that's not a problem (I got the "dry bath"). Also, no step up to the slide in the Eagle Cap & their slide is only the dinette; so the extra room in the slide on the Fox really opens it up a lot more; also, I didn't like the TV shelf sticking out on both the E/C and the Lance. Anyhow, time will tell. Guess I should'a got training wheels, but I just have never liked the looks of them; plus, there's not room in my narrow driveway. Keep me posted!
