Got to put in a new main seal and thought I'd replace clutch while we were at it . Standard Transmissions has a direct replacement clutch that is 9" at a very good price. The stock clutch is bigger than that. Has anyone used one and do you think it would do for towing an open car trailer once in a while? Thanks in advance. The truck is a 93 5spd,3;55 ratio.

Maybe I should try again. Std Trans. says that the clutch I am talking about is the same that is used in the second gen trucks. It is not an iron clutch, but is lighter and made of better material than the first gen clutches. I am thinking that it worked well for the 2nd gen trucks so it will probably work for our trucks. They supply a kit to addapt the 9" clutch to where the 11 " clutch was. Has anyone tried one of these? I guess I could ask if the 2nd gen trucks had any clutch longivity problems that anyone knows of. Thanks

The stock 1989-93 clutch is a Sachs with 13" diameter. The 1994-2002 (except HO engine) is 12. 3" diameter with the same flywheel bolt pattern as the Sachs.
