I asked him about it earlier. The motor he is getting, isn't completely assembled.

He had a headgasket blow and water got into the bearings.

Wish that was my problem. Running the Appalachuns again, came through the second tunnel I-77E something blew. I checked the radiator, two gallons low on coolant, filled it up and drove away. Bad racket and vibration, shut it down along side of highway. Had one of those Kampmaster toyhaulers hooked. Called another hauler friend to see how close he was, knew he was running East also. Wasn't too far, about 300 miles but he was on his way to deliver a load of trailers. Thought he could be my location by 6 or 8 in the evening. He'd been running hard, I figured best thing I could do was get some sleep so I could drive after we hooked my trailer on his truck. He went a hunnert miles the wrong way, course then you gotta come back the same. Finally showed up a 6 in the morning, we delivered my trailer 140 miles and back. Hooked my broke truck to a tow chain and he drug me into the TA, we winched the truck on his wedge and he climbed in the back seat and I drove with his mutt barking at every toll booth. He forgot to pay for the fuel, remembered 60 miles later, we called, they said they had already turned it in to the highway patrol and we couldn't give them a card number over the phone, had to drive back to the TA. Dropped the trailer, returned and paid. Drive back to the trailer, dark now, harder to hook in the dark. He ended up dropping the trailer off the fiver hitch and on his flatbed. Bottle jacked it up so we could hook up. Trucks back at Angola DOC, Dave's Diesel, he thinks the head gasket failed leaked water into someplace water shouldn't be. Ford F350 hadn't sold so I running trailer with it now. All this to tell you my Ford is nowhere near the hauler my Ram is, course it's running, Ram ain't. Got a load going to Aurora, CO. . . Momma here I come. The Saga continues.

Thanks bmoeller, Jim, I'm afraid I'd have a terrible case of Ram withdrawal long affore June, thanks anyway. Reason for two pallets is DC took all the hangy ony parts off. So the block/head is strapped to one pallet and the rest the parts are on another pallet. Looks like I'm a gonna have a bunch of spares. Head gasket failed allowing coolant into cylinders. These things don't make very good steam engines I'm afraid. Head has cracks at 5 of 6 holes, prolly all 6, just can't see it without x-ray. If I had stopped sooner maybe could have gotten away with an in-frame. Needs sleeves now and prolly the crank is junk. Cheaper to replace now than rebuild. Need that engine bad. . . I'm too damned old to be sleepin in the back seat of a pickup.

Cheers,

Steve J.

Wish I could help somehow, but since I live on the west coast, I would have to drive 14 hours just to get to Calgary, and that would include passing through the rockies in the winter, which wouldn't exactly be enjoyable.

Hang in there OTRPU! It will all come together, and never forget it COULD be worse!

Been there! Done that! Suffered! Got stronger!
