I have had my truck for 2 years now. When I got it it had already received the 09 upgrade and drove fine. I never experienced any death wobble in the 2 years of owning the truck. I had it brought it for 4 new tires and upper and lower ball joint replacement. And now I have to over steer the truck, the alignment is jacked up and I have death wobble even at like 35-40 mph.

truck is an 04 5.9 quad cab long bed
New ball joints are mopar parts and tires are bf Goodrich all terrain

You just had work done and something has changed significantly, I'm for checking the alignment again. It makes sense rather than grasping at other straws for the time being.

I am inclined to agree. In all my years, vehicles and tires, I have never had death wobble. Until I installed a set of 35/12.50x16.5 BFG AT's on a '75 Ford F-250 4x4. It has the adjustable tapered roller bearings on the knuckle. I pulled one shim out of each side and all was fine. This was in '94 and they are still on it:eek: Off highway sled puller only now.:)

I have an 04 also. As soon as I put BFG's on it I got death wobble. The side walls are too soft. I struggled with death wobble first few years of ownership. In the end I believe the real fix for mine was when I upgraded the steering box. After that I was able to remove the dual steering stabilizers and go back to factory single. I haven't had even a hint of death wobble in 10 years or more. Also best to use 10 ply tires.

DW comes from either worn parts or bad alignment. And Ram alignment specs call for DW because the wheels are fighting each other.
How do you explain a new truck having death wobble from the factory? It was a bad design either weak steering box or other design issue.

Can still be alignment issues, everyone assumed trucks come perfectly aligned from the factory and that is not the case, could also be a bad track bar bushing or TRE, just because something is new does not mean it good but I have seen people waste thousands of dollars under that assumption.

But it wasn't on my truck. Tried everything

Every new vehicle we get at the shop whether it's a bus, car, truck, van, etc gets taken to the alignment shop straight from the dealer. There have been very few that did not need adjustment.

Sounds like you put on sub par tires ( yes I know some will say BFGs are great blah blah blah), got DW that likely damaged the steering gear box or other components then had to chase all the issues originally caused by said tires.

Isn't the first question Thuren,Carli and CJC asks when the customer reports DW? BFG's?

Like I said, bad alignment specs - a solid axle calls for Zero degree toe angle. Everything that is not zero toe calls for trouble.

Its one of the top few! I know many people who have ran BFGs and never had an issue but know more who spent thousands replacing parts when told tires cant cause DW only to finally replace with a better tire and never had an issue again. Also been on many off road trips where the only flats were BFG, I think they are good tires on lighter vehicles but not on these heavy trucks.

 Thats me. Two sets no issues, I did not like the tire wear on the 3500 truck tho: but traction was great.. I went with Nitto Ridge Grapplers before I gave her a new home and those were fine also.

I will say our 2012 had DW.. and it was the OEM tires that were worn... put new Michelins on it and never has another issue,

Been running Toyo Open Country for years now. Super strong tire and accurate. Once had one that didn't need weights to balance. BFGs are jelly roll tores.
