Today's Freightliner Of Maine Dooryard Carnage

puredieselpower.com - never again

I have to say, I think Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat has finally found an advertising firm that knows something.

I'm enjoying the new ad campaign featuring the HD's with Cummins motors.

The latest one showing the competition backing away from the "fight" when confronted by an HD pickup backed up by its "posse" of tractors, fire engines and other big vehicles presumably with various classes of Cummins motors.

Well done.

Is it going to make me run out and drop $50K on a new truck... . No, but I do enjoy the ad.

I would... .

I believe the Dodge is the least expensive of the three!!!

Nope, I'll hang onto my '01 until it rots out from underneath me ;).

It more about economics than the a Dodge vs Ford vd Chevy question. I just can't justify the cost in terms of my current needs. I'm more likely to sell my travel trailer when my truck can't tow it anymore and buy a large Class C with a Cummins under the hood (Dynamax?).

Another TV ad!

This is the ad for E-dysfunction  where the rancher is towing a tandem horse trailer, gets stuck in the mud, uses the horses to pull the truck out. Who can ID if the First Generation Dodge is a CTD? I've looked close enough only to notice a cracked piece of interior trim below the rear window:-laf. I have not seen any badges???

Patrick.

When I saw that commercial, I thought getting stuck in that little bit of mud with a 4X4 pickup might explain his need for the meds. :-laf

Dodge ad

Seems like a quick move to 4WD would have saved all that time and effort of using the horses? I've seen the add twice. Didn't notice any badges. 2005 QC 2500 HD auto 4x4 Laramie SB, Air bags, SS exhaust, AMP steps,BD intercooler, boost, egr, trans temp gauges, backup camera, onboard air,3. 73's, Eagle wheels with grappler 305's, S & B intake, engine stock, Fiber glass top. :)

Maybe they do listen to us "commonfolk"

I remember way back in the 80's when the Ford/Chevy battle was in full swing and they were hauling the competitor on the bed up to the top of a pile of rocks... Then later, the other competitor was hauling one on the bed plus towing another truck behind going up the same dang pile of rocks Might have even been the same company hired to advertise for both

Show a firetruck responding to a scene, a generator supplying power to a hospital, and then fade away to heavy equipment working furiously to repair a bridge that was swept away from a flood... "And what do all of these vehicles have in common??? The legendary Cummins! Then fade to the Ram truck (you know... Kinda like a commercial for Duracell )

I agree that showing a few class 6 or 7 trucks, emergency vehicles, or heavy equipment in a commercial with the hoods up (and of course, leading up to Ram) with the same darn powerplant under the hood would turn a couple heads

Or maybe doing some sort of interview with the TDR member (blacksheepdiesel) that posted a thread over on Turbo Diesel Register where he has a photo of his odometer clicking over to 800,000 miles!! Milestone... - TDR Roundtable

Maybe the people who come up with these advertisements for TV should ask a few of us common folk here in the real world for a couple ideas from time to time

The whole reason I even got interested with the Cummins was one look at the odometer on a 1st gen that had around 250k and the owner had only changed the oil and air filters on a regular basis and had never been stranded on the side of the highway for any reason other than a flat tire!

Sad to say, but truth be told... Ford has us all whipped with the excellent fuel economy! But keep in mind that it's only due to the fact that no fuel is burned while a good portion of it's overall duty cycle is 'dealer bound' on the back of a wrecker

Seems to be similar to my (copy & paste) post above on CF :D New commercial/advertisements for Ram? - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum

Listen... $50k is a lot of money to drop (invest), so be careful you also look at the "cost" of ownership when you consider a new diesel truck. I sell Duramax as well as Cummins at my dealership... and I can assure you, the added cost of DEF is swaying many loyal Duramax/Allison customers over to the Cummins 6. 7L Turbo. Now boasting 800lbs foot torque.

We all pay the same at the pump, but the cost of "ownership' is certainly higher in a GM or Ford than it is in a Ram.
