Come on guy's, I can't believe your giving this new truck such a hard time. I think it looks greatOo. I like the tall grill and all the chrome. We need to get behind Dodge on this one. People also hated the 94's when they came out but everybody changed their miinds about those too. As far as the interior I love it:D Spend some time in it and you will too. Ilove the way the new 1/2 ton's sit and there just an absolute pleasure to drive. These things are going to be bas A$$, I'm gettin one.

I prefer the looks of the 2nd generation, but the third is far from ugly. Fords are ugly.

I like the fact that there is a single axel 1 ton option too. I'll be keeping mine for a while, but when I do upgrade, I'll have no qualms about buying a Dodge again. Still the best looking truck on the road.

Chris

I'm glad I bought when I did. Even my girlfriend says that the new Ram is ugly!!! It looks like a pig face. It just sticks in my head everytime I see one. I'm with paccool.

Why what did Dodge and those Crooked stealers ever do for me? And as far as the 94 goes, it was Love @ first sight...

No comparison. The second generation was love at first sight for me as well and waited for a long time to find one I could afford. Looked at third generation while at dealer the other day and not impressed. The dash looks like something from a 90's cherokee. They look poison to work on and that was just a gas engine. Can't imagine it when they cram that Cummins in there. I'm sure they will gain a following but not my style. :p :p

I like the the looks of them and I think the HD will look even better. Having said that I just ordered a 2002,wanted a six speed and didn't want to wait. :D

I sell Dodge trucks for a living and there are at least some people out there who like these trucks because I have not sold less than three of these trucks a day since they came out. Personally I love them. :D

Yeah, there are many 1500s running around in my section of the planet too. To me, their appearance is very color-and-option dependant, moreso than the 2nd generation trucks. I like 'em for their larger cab and neat interior options (fold-down flat floor in the back and the under-center-seat storage, particularly), but it all boils down to trade-in allowance and available funds. :D

These are about the ugliest trucks I've ever seen. Reminds me of one of those whales cruising around with its mouth open! Guess we'll have to buy a GMC and put a Cummins in it!

Michael

Don't judge the '03 Ram by the 1500's that you see now. I saw the thread that had the HD's and dually's from the Detroit Auto Show. They look much nicer. :)

IMO the '03 looks great---but the better term is mean... especially with a lift and the sport package... and as far as backing Dodge on this one, about the only thing I'll back Dodge with is the Cummins... and if they get rid of that maybe they'll get the back of my hand!!!!! (just how I don't know!)

When the 1st gens were current I thought that Dodge had the UGLIEST truck and it was long on the tooth. 2nd gens came out and they were the best looking truck on the market. It was 1994 that I said I could buy a Dodge and feel good about how it looked, cool and tough.

Everyone at work says the Dodge truck look best and that is what they want or their husband wants.

Gen 3 is ugly.

Ford tried to have the 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks look exactly the same, for a few years. Now look at the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, they look unmistakably like a truck. The 1/2 ton still looks like a grocery getter.

I am glad I ordered the 2001 when I did. I would have been VERY upset with the non-disconnecting front axle.

I am also GLAD I got the NOISY engine. I would not pay $4,000 extra and have it sound like a GASSER! Looks like my next truck will be a FORD gasser with a 12 valve installed.

I may be the ONLY guy in the USA that buys a brand new 3/4 ton Ford and immediately puts a 12 valve used motor in it. But the truck will sound EXACTLY the way I want it to. It will cost $3,000 less than a PowerStroke equipped truck and it will outlast a PowerStroke truck. It WILL be one NOISY Ford!

The only hard thing will be handling all the electronics. Heck I could start my own business doing ISB swaps for Ford Gassers!

DC has killed a LOT of cool things. The have stopped me from ever buying a DC car for my wife, the transmission died in her Chrysler Concorde 8,000 miles out of warranty. Never AGAIN!

I don't like the new models either.

DC brought a 3500 to the Minneapolis Auto Show a few months back. I spent a fair amount of time examining it.

I'm not an expert, but this thing was garbage. Cheap plastic and window-dressing everywhere...

I had originally intended to only drive my 01 for a two or three years, but now I think I'll keep it a bit longer.

And what's with those back doors???:p You really call that a 4 door!!!! Looks like a 3/4 door to me. But the only cool thing I like about the 3rd gen trucks is the center console.

The term coyote ugly came to mind. I like pig snout, too. Let's take a nice truck and see how we can make it look like the competition that went out of it's way to make itself look like our truck. Something's in life just don't make no sense.

Put me down in the column of those that like the new look.

Dealer had then '01 and '02 parked side by side.

Gonna wait for the 1 ton tho... ... and keep the '92.

Some trucks never go out of style!

:D

Looks ain't everything

For me, it doesn't really matter what it looks like. You can dress up a pile of dog crap and call it beautiful.

My major concern is (1) front end ... it is still the same as the 2002, 2001, 2000, etc..... The steering and wandering problem has been around for a long time and DC is still is ignoring the problem. I am still fighting my front end ... even with the Luke's link. (2) want/need 4 true doors ... to me DC decided to go with what they wanted instead of what the customer wants.

Also, where are the 4500's and 5500's with a ISC? They are needed!

And I can't see ever purchasing a 1st or 2nd year modle. One of the worst things a smart consumer can do.

I run cars till their worth about a case of Bud and give them to the neighbor's kid. I'll keep the '97 for some time and then pick up a old used Pete 330 for working and a old Toyota 4X4 for winter rides.
