When the 94 first came out I told my brother it was so ugly I will probably like it after while.
When the 1st gens were current I thought that Dodge had the UGLIEST truck and it was long on the tooth. 2nd gens came out and they were the best looking truck on the market. It was 1994 that I said I could buy a Dodge and feel good about how it looked, cool and tough.
Everyone at work says the Dodge truck look best and that is what they want or their husband wants.
Gen 3 is ugly.
Ford tried to have the 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks look exactly the same, for a few years. Now look at the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, they look unmistakably like a truck. The 1/2 ton still looks like a grocery getter.
I am glad I ordered the 2001 when I did. I would have been VERY upset with the non-disconnecting front axle.
I am also GLAD I got the NOISY engine. I would not pay $4,000 extra and have it sound like a GASSER! Looks like my next truck will be a FORD gasser with a 12 valve installed.
I may be the ONLY guy in the USA that buys a brand new 3/4 ton Ford and immediately puts a 12 valve used motor in it. But the truck will sound EXACTLY the way I want it to. It will cost $3,000 less than a PowerStroke equipped truck and it will outlast a PowerStroke truck. It WILL be one NOISY Ford!
The only hard thing will be handling all the electronics. Heck I could start my own business doing ISB swaps for Ford Gassers!
DC has killed a LOT of cool things. The have stopped me from ever buying a DC car for my wife, the transmission died in her Chrysler Concorde 8,000 miles out of warranty. Never AGAIN!
