Help! BD exhaust brake switch rattle

Well I have made up my mind to go to an HX40 turbo. I know I need a new downpipe, but I don't know who to get it from. I have read some neg comments about the DD downpipe (however that is who made my exhaust and it is great). Who is using what and how do you like it.

My BD Power downpipe fit good. Other guys have went with Stans' Headers downpipe. I guess its a 2 piece pipe, so it can be adjusted if needed.

DD has fixed the problem with their downpipes. Mine was one of the one with the wrong bend. DD stood behind it and made it right with me. They also have Great Customer Service! I would purchasing another one of their downpipes if I needed one!

DD worked for me!

I took my truck to the DD shop in Vegas in very early June, and had them install the HX40 and DD True Torque Power Module, and they put their downpipe on my existing 4" Jardine exhaust. Works great, and looks like a perfect fit. Only thing that may be a bit of a problem, they just cut into the existing pipe about 3 feet below the turo, and then welded their 4" downpipe to the Jaqrdine system. So, this would make it very difficult to replace the stock turbo if I ever wanted/need to. But this is the only potential down side I can see.

4" down pipe

I bought my HX 40 and downpipe from Joe Donnelly at May Madness, it all came from DD, have not installed yet, how do I tell if the down pipe will work or not? I can't afford downtime if I get in middle of install, and have to find a diff. one!! TIA.

Yogi -

That is the same place I am at. I do not want to remove the turbo and find that the down pipe will not work. It sounds like DD has fixed there problem and all is well. I will get the DD one because that is where I got my exhasut and were I will get my injectors.

Larry, the correct configuration of the 4" downpipe should have the turbo connection and other end essentiall parallel to each other. The problem that occurred with a batch of these is that the end opposite the turbo connection was skewed about 10-15 degrees towards the driver's side instead of straight back. I'd just ask DD to double check the pipe before shipping. I've also read here that people have had good luck with Stan's Headers for these.

4" downpipe

Thanks Kurt, I have the downpipe, brought it home with me from MM. It is definately off line a little, don't know if its 15* or not. I better get in touch with Jow or DD tomorrow. Thanks again.

The downpipes I use work fine. I've installed half a dozen HX40's (on my truck alone) without a problem. I would also recommend the band clamp. It's so much easier to get things apart later. We seem to take my exhaust apart rather often for some strange reason!:D

If you are doing the installation yourself, get a two-piece downpipe. I have a one-piece, and I've trashed it trying to make it fit. It now leaks at the turbo exhaust housing outlet, so I'm going to have to have a shop cut it up and try to make a two-piece out of it so it'll fit right. Now to figure out where to buy 4" ball flange parts.

Yet another problem I've had with this POS truck...

JR2,

I have a downpipe from Stan's headers. It wouldn't fit perfectly at the beginning. Nothing a torch couldn't fix. :D

Also I think you should shoot a line to ADT. They have a special offer on the HX-40 right now... .

Marco - the emails were sent earlier today... . and I have a response, just waiting for one more reply and I will be the owner of a new turbo... ...
