So I put on a turbo back MBRP 4 inch exhaust system, no cat. Truck sounds good and has a nice low rumble at idle and slow speeds. Turbo lags less and I gained 2lbs of boost. Oo.

I am currently running the smarty jr econ mode. Rest of truck is stock with 107k miles.

One strange thing is, now when I step on the throttle I don't see any smoke out of the tailpipe. Should I be worried or is this norm with a new exhaust?

Your old exhaust had a build up of soot. When you did get on it hard it would clean some out.

Nothing to worry about

Bob4x4 and rjones,

Thank you for your feedback. I like to think rjones is 100% but also figure in time there will be enough soot buildup that black smoke will start again.

Wanted to make sure I didn't loose too much back pressure or could be risking running lean. EGR's are down so didn't think I was too lean.

Turbo guage moves as my foot does both up and down, throws you off as you don't get that 'turbo boost' feeling I did before when the turbo caught up. Now it is just smooth 'go'. Weird feeling from diesel but I like it.
