Some folks will try and convince you that if they are built in Mexico they are of lessor quality. I disagree.
Personally, I think you can get a quality truck no matter where it's built. If I had my choice however, it's a tough call between giving my money to the UAW or Mexico.
As for Ford quality, I can't help but laugh when I read the posts. Ford has had a problem with their previous diesels that is true. However, my current Dodge had to have a new head installed with less than 3000 miles on it. You call that quality???
I am not saying that the Cummins is as bad as the Navistar, what I am saying is that lets be careful if we are living in glass houses. The truth of he matter is that if it wasn't for the fact that Ford sold a metric butt-ton of those diesel crew cabs, we wouldn't have the mega cab today. Dodge missed the boat on that one big time.
Along those lines, where is the Dodge Crew Cab long bed???
I hope for competitions sake, Ford has better luck with this motor. My gut instinct is that they won't because they continue to sucumb to the stupid American need to be able to grab their crotch while bragging about having a V-8 diesel instead of an inline 6 diesel. I have said it before but it bears repeating: in commericial applications, SERIOUS diesel motors are inline.
Oh yah, how about Dodge integrated towing brake controller?? Where is that option.
Don't me wrong, I am a Dodge guy. I had a Ford 7. 3 and learned my lesson the hard way after two very reliable Dodge CTD's.
