Even with a CCW, you still have to go thru the background check. It's just the Brady waiting period that you are exempted from. I've bought two 9mm Berettas in the last year had to go thru the background check on both. Background check is a Federal requirement and not waivable by state laws. The backgound check is done on-line or on the phone and won't delay your getting your piece unless it turns up the fact that you shouldn't have it!
I've owned handguns for 40+ years. Had a CCW for 20. I've owned and carried many brands and calibers. I don't care for the Glocks. Too light of a trigger pull, no external safety. I've read about more than one incident of someone shooting themselves thru the ass cheek with a Glock. For safe carry, it's gotta be in a holster that covers the trigger guard. Also, DON'T stick your finger into the guard until you are ready to fire. A good inexpensive easily concealed 9MM is the Kel-Tec P11. Holds 11 rounds of 9mm and is smaller than a snub nose smith.
I don't own, nor will I ever own any Ruger product. Ruger's company health insurance won't pay off on motorcycle accidents. A legal activity. It's perfectly OK for it to pay off on injuries sustained while you are driving drunk, an illegal activity. No one who rides should own a Ruger. Got my first Harley at 14, in 1958.
I alternate my carry between a Kel-Tec . 32 in my right hip pocket, with a piece of plastic between the gun and the outside. The plastic keeps the piece from printing on my pocket and showing. I carry it muzzle up. Just stick my finger into the trigger guard, pull up and pivot into place. The plastic is just a piece of detergent bottle that I cut to fit the inside of a jeans pocket. Works fine and was free. Other carry pieces depending on clothing required are a Sig 220 . 45 (Navy Seals and AF Special Ops carry these) and a Colt Commander enhanced. Can't carry one of these big un's while wearing a T shirt and shorts.
