I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on a hp replacement inter-cooler, I am trying to get my EGTs down. The CFM+ intake manifold helped, but I still get to 1400+ fairly quickly.

I am also wondering if it is worth scraping my FlashPaq (coded to the VIN so I don't think I can sell it) and getting a Smarty. Is there that big of a difference?

I can't help you with the intercooler question, although I've heard that the one on the '06's is supposed to be pretty good. I've heard too that the quad boost fooler helps with EGT's.

I believe that once you return the truck to stock, the flashpaq becomes "neutral" - that is, it'll work on any other truck for which it was originally designed which, in your case, is another 06 Ram TD. So you should be able to sell it without any issues. Once the new owner uploads anything from the flashpaq it will now be dedicated to his/her truck until they too go back to stock... ... ... and the story repeats.

we have a new towing software for the smarty and it is really working well on lower egt's and fuel economy increase.

The 2007's were really running hot even in stock form.

I upgraded to a Spearco intercooler and a Scheid street camshaft at the same time and saw a huge drop in EGT's. I can't tell you which of the two was more responsible for the drop, but the combo together worked magic. There are other intercoolers out there, but I don't think any of them would outflow or outcool the Spearco.

Hi Bob,

Is this "new towing software" the Beta 4. 4 that some have, including myself? It has been mentioned once that the beata 4. 4. is not for a stock engine. The Mads Electronics web site makes no mention of the Towing or Economy software.

Replacing your cooler isn't going to do much at all for you. The stock cooler is good for some pretty high boost and hp. You could spend your cash more wisely on other mods first.

After I installed my Spearco I only noticed the EGT's rise a little slower. Same with the CFM. Not a lot of difference. The CFM possibly help spool up but, that's all I noticed. You will still hit those high temps with a cooler unless you have other mods to support it... . I. E. , turbo, intake, CAI exhaust. Even then the stock cooler is plenty capable.

I don't know the Flash but, you can't go wrong with the Smarty. Each truck reacts differently to different mods. The Smarty give a plethora of options to find that sweet spot.

Yes, Bob mentioned to me the other day that the 4. 4 for more for towing with economy. Yes, it will work on a stock motor but, is meant for aftermarket turbo's.

It's not on MADS site because it's still in beta
